You shouldn't chose any point for valve timing if the engine automatically adjust the valve timing.
And the cat thing is because you haven't deselected the default leaded fuel, it doesn't show the "x" at the fuel (this is a known bug) but you can see that it's selected because it's highlighted.

I can't replicated this, maybe screenshot would help.
Makes sense for the cat.
But on the VVT there is an obvious step in the dyno graph where the vtec is kicking in yo and there is a box for me with a number that matches it in the head section but no slider to adjust it.
