I'm really sorry about that! You can call it a failure or just put me further down in the list!

Good question. Pleb - do you want to issue that challenge to Leo instead and have me move Hermann down the list?

Re: Pay It Forward Design Challenge [Round 1 Challenges]

I have some internet problems, after that I'll finish working with Norman, then I'll do it.

If I can get it done today, I should be able to post the new challenge (which I haven't thought about yet)

Challenge to Nialloftara

After noticing that you are a big fan of muscle cars, push rods and big engines, I decided to do a challenge that doesn't allow you to use any of that :D

So, you need to develop a small hatchback, with a four cylinder engine and a turbo charger that can beat a Corvette C6 around the airfield track, but it still need to be useful, comfortable, economical and cheap.

I'll keep limitations to a minimum, as I think this is a hard challenge in itself.

Limitations

  • Front transverse layout
  • You need to use the modern small hatchback body
  • 4 cylinder engine no bigger than 2000cc
  • Must be turbocharged
  • A catalytic converter
  • No semi slick tyres

Minimum stats
  • Reliability over 70
  • Comfort above 35
  • Safety above 33
  • Economy better than 5.0 litres/100km (47 mpg US)
  • Price no more than $15000
  • And crucially, a time around the airfield of less than 1:26.8

Re: Pay It Forward Design Challenge [Round 1 Challenges]

So maffc My challenge to you is The Grandpa's Gift Challenge!

You've just received your license and are eager to go blow your money on a quick and flashy sports car, your Grandpa however "gifted" you with his car. It's old, worn out, badly out of tune and badly rusted in spots but your dad says you can't turn it down. you had saved up a few thousand dollars to buy yourself a car but now you have to spend it bringing this car to a level where your friends aren't going to laugh at you.

You may
add turbo's

alter the automatic's top speed
alter any and all suspension values

your goal

Re: Pay It Forward Design Challenge [Round 1 Challenges]

A question, I can't change the Auto box spacings, but I can swap out the auto for a manual box. If I do that can I alter it's spacings?

Yes, just to allow for swapping in different car's gearboxes.
