If you can fit it in the budget, fit a 10l v8 in there the Comrade Clunker has decent engine bay space.

so I can smuggle a decadent capitalisy engine? or perhaps a high end soviet hardware? cool....

If its fits the budget and meets the other requirements (moneym sound and overall reliability etc) you could sneak a chevy crate motor in there. Or a turbo'd Lada motor...?

The concept of making a car, based off a race-car, that is still mostly unobtainable (some notable exceptions), seems slightly useless.

Unless of course, you are referring to the more technical definition of complying to the set regulations of a racing series.

Ah, yeah, I was facetiously referring to the latter definition there. I don't actually hold that opinion. As for the former, the only use I've found for it is to take those cars in Gran Turismo and mod them way past the limits of the race versions... like taking a Nissan R390GT homologation model and whacking a drag spec turbo on it to boost it to 833hp

so you are hotrodding the engine instead of a swap? I thought about the same but I dont really like boosted engines... LAG and the GAZ v8 could get me more juice

It passed the legality checks (somehow!) and is fair competition. I was pretty surprised when i first saw the entry.

Some very efficient budgeting has been used by all contestants, i swear i haven't seen pennies calculated to such precision outside of an accountants office. The Peoples Republic approves this frugal spending. Leave ostentatious purchases and credit cards for the vile west!

Can I just check a few things before I proceed to make a large mess of Uri's workshop please

- On the very first chassis tab, is the only thing we can change the front and rear suspension?
- I understand that the police are very vigilant in their car checks, but surely officer will understand that my engine sometimes overheats and needs a little more ventilation
- Are we also able to get away with modifying the physical shape of the car? Perfectly fitting replacement parts can be difficult to come by, which would explain some discrepancies, but I fear that my radical redesign will be a little too obvious, even if Uri can trade the original bodywork for some differently shaped panels to reduce costs
- Different fuel types are hard to come by in the Peoples Republic of Comrade, but Uri says he may be able to get hold of some go faster juice. Will it be acceptable to use this in the race?

Is the clunker engine meant to break at high RPM? The stock engine has a reliability of 0 because it breaks due to valve float. I'm not overly worried because Uri says he found a new engine, but I'm worried that the clunker may not have loaded properly

The rev limit was set too high on the 'stock' clunker, that was a mistake. As far as cosmetic upgrades go wild, no large wings, the two 'smaller' ones are cool. Lips could be used alternatively. You can upgrade suspension type, just cannot change the frame type, frame material or body material. As far as fuel keep it as is, "luxurious premium fuel" is for the western dogs. Go show Uri's workshop whats, what!

I felt great relief and pride in my refining comrades when I saw the approved fuel. I had been worried that we would need use low grade gasoline, but such skill is shown by our brave refining laborers that we have regular unleaded! What more could be asked for?
