Re: BRC 1966 - Gentleman Brobots Club [RACE 3 P&Q]

Certainly a sobering sight, this race should've been called the Fender Bender 500. While I'm not too thrilled with my cars performance, I am glad it made it to the end.

So it looks like my car can't even take a mild shunt before the engine blows up. There's that 15.3 engine reliability coming back to haunt me :o

On a positive note - im quite surprised that my car didn't completely fail a slower circuit.

Re: BRC 1966 - Gentleman Brobots Club [RACE 3 P&Q]

^ That sentiment is why I'm (as well as several others are) so disappointed. I think my car would have fared well here because it was a more technical track. I base that on the best lap times from the 7-9 laps or so that my car ran w/out damage and on dry asphalt. It's all speculative though.

If you noticed, I know exactly how you all feel. It is very frustrating indeed.

Will it be the BRC 1975 or something else?

If this season is any indication, haven't you all realized that trying to anticipate the future season is a waste of time? I don't think anyone was truly prepared for the developments of BRC 1966. I'd rather keep the chatter focused on this series and leave speculation for the lull at the completion of BRC 1966.

Mainly posted in jest, but I have been playing around with turbo engines to see how they compare.

Ah, well in that case we need the *sarcasm* note to appear somewhere. I can't tell that your tongue is firmly planted in your cheek over the internet. :)

Re: BRC 1966 - Gentleman Brobots Club [RACE 3 P&Q]

For me it was the power to weight ratio restriction that threw me off. My effort to cram a large V8 into a midsize passenger car had less than ideal results because I had to choke down the engine as well as increasing weight to meet the requirement. Ultimately I would've fared better using a smaller engine.

I myself have just recently started playing with fuel injection, so far I've made some pretty nice performance figures... at a price.

Re: BRC 1966 - Gentleman Brobots Club [RACE 3 P&Q]

@BobLobLaw, btw LOVE the name, Arrested Development is one of my favorite shows ever. I am forgoing the injection, it's super pricey and the carbs do a fine job still. I do have a pretty sweet turbo v8 putting out 270hp with somewhat low fuel consumption. Car does 80-120 in 2.2 seconds :)
Hoping to redeem myself for this terrible race season with lots of safety and reliability.

Re: BRC 1966 - Gentleman Brobots Club [RACE 3 P&Q]

Before you all waste a lot of time: rules for next season will change drastically. Turbos must be somewhat competitive and this cannot be achieved with a power-to-weight ratio limit. I am already running a few prototypes based on a revised ruleset. Cars/engines will be a bit more racey in the future, too.

Hurrah! That's good news for me, who seems to be unable to handle this lack of power
