Was watching qualifying on Snetterton. Isaac' jeep uses 1kg of fuel on the back straight alone. And 2.5kg for the lap as a whole. @Silverstone Myself and Isaac were having a good battle of the philosophies until his massive v12 exploded.

I kind of view his Jeep as a rival to my Cortino thanks to it being the only one with a bigger engine. However, it seems my strategy of sticking a big V8 into a smaller road car needs some additional thought.

It's more a matter of cramming a large, reasonable V8 into a small road car. Mine is powered by a detuned Chevy Small Block 283 V8! For the time, it was fairly large (98.4mm bore), but still (arguably) reasonably sized for a smaller car. Of course, mine is penalized too, for being so large, as it is quite thirsty and heavy, and puts down a considerable amount of power at 248hp, considering the 225mm tires.

Edit: Oh my goodness - iRaptor, you got so lucky with those pit stops! Three more seconds changing tyres and I'd have had you. Good job! :D

Edit #2: Heads-up to Pyrlix: you forgot to show the total pit time for all 69 participants. Normally wouldn't be a huge deal, but one of the people in the range from 64th to 69th was koolkei, who finished 6th and gained at least two or three positions from only having the one pit stop. So it would be good to make sure that the whole field is shown next time.

(My own preference would be that you intentionally scroll to and stop at 1-24, 25-48, and 46-69; that would include everyone in exactly three screenshots.)

Do you think Packbat realizes she is doing more work on my strategy than I am? :p

Re: BRC 1966 - Gentleman Brobots Club [RACE 2 P&Q]

Don't worry - I'm spending far more time on my own strategy. Any aid I'm giving y'all is just a side benefit. :D

On which subject: Der Bayer, what would happen if I had two pit stops with overlapping pit windows? Something like:

BRC overlap pit strat.png
BRC overlap pit strat.png (12.62 KiB) Viewed 3830 times

Would an emergency pit stop in the area of overlap (say, at the 30% point in this case) replace just the earlier stop, or both stops?

(Note: not my actual pit strategy, even if I do go two stops.)

(Edit: ...good grief. I'm pretty sure I'm going to go all the way to the end of the season without ever pitting at the scheduled race percentage.)

Cheers! Yeah I feel like strategy played a nice part in my P2. I wonder how come I seem to have some better pace during the race than in qualy. I hold the fastest lap alongside Puffster, yet I'm quite far down the qualy rankings.
Fair to say I'm looking forward having a good race aswell, though I doubt I'll perform as good as I did on Sunday. I'm rather happy by my pit strategy but I'll have to tweak it. Afterall it was idiotic to think I was going to pit around the 32th minute with a pit at the 32% of the race. But I'm a dumbass. It's a 90 min race.

i what now? something about me and 64th position??

also, i didn't gain 'two or three positions' i gained maybe like 20 positions...

i started 24th iirc. i even got 3rd place for a couple of laps, when almost everyone was pitting to change to inters. after that i stayed at 4th position the rest of the race, until....... i got to the very last corner, and demon interfered.

my pit stop strategy was very pushing and risky. no inters with only 1 lap. it's the only way i can make up time lost by my car that's slow

also.. it's not big but,
on the race, it said i stopped for 10.72 seconds. but on the end result, it said 10.22 seconds. weird.......

edit: didn't pyrlix scrolled down to the very last person that actually pitted/made it to the pits? which was me

koolkei wrote:i what now? something about me and 64th position??

What I meant: there are 64 or 65 cars which spent more time in their pit boxes than yours did, but I don't know how long you spent, because the list wasn't scrolled down to show everyone.

(Actually, never mind, I just found your pit stop in the race footage. You spent 10.22 seconds changing tyres. That's almost as fast as theoretically possible in BRC - I doubt anyone beat that time.)

also, i didn't gain 'two or three positions' i gained maybe like 20 positions...

Point taken - I was looking at the "Time Spent in Pits" number and not even thinking of all the time spent on pit road for every pit stop.

I seriously considered using a similar strategy, but I decided I'd rather pin my hopes on long stretches of inters weather - we'll see how it plays out over the course of the season. They're both gambles, just different gambles.

Edit: And your car's not that slow, it's just that the field is exceedingly competitive - the difference between first place and thirtieth place was less than 2.7 seconds a lap. ...which is one of the reasons why you could gain so many places on good pit strategy.

5th place. Very good result and an excellent race by the others as well. Looking forward to the next one, though I feel that one might end up worse for me.

It would just replace the first one.
