Well done Puffster foe the win ! You had the edge in the last 10 minutes ;)
Another fight lost against the winner, but I guess I won't complain !

Talking about design, I just slapped NACA ducts on the sidepods. Nothing else needed :p

Good to see British comedy is alive and well in the form of racetrack maps.

P32 as opposed to P31 last time, anybody got time to see what the difference in qualifying positions were overall? Just curious to see if there was much movement in the field.

I guess slicks would be better... I realized why did my car suffer so much in yesterday's crash. It's not purely safety issue (11.something) but I have a really light car which means if I crash with someone else... well shit.

Re: BRC 1966 - Gentleman Brobots Club [RACE 2 P&Q]

I went from P12 in Q to P7. My car seems to like the mushroom *khm* *khm*

When is the next race? :o

About the problem in the first race:

As I crossed the line to lap it was 62% rain, then dropped to 61% and way before entering the pits it was again 63% but my car decided to pit anyway to get another set of WETs. Is it determined to go to pits as you cross the line or before the entrance of pits?

My info:

Re: BRC 1966 - Gentleman Brobots Club [RACE 2 P&Q]

Before the car enters the pits. It makes sense that you got another set of wets then. Was it a planned stop?

"racetime" is your pit stop window. If you make an unplanned stop within that window before a planned one, the planned one will not be done.

i literally just slapped on some random headlamps and taillights and done.

i even forgot to change to color:P

Just quoting the commentators reviewing my car before the race, it sounded kinda like a James May/Top Gear thing to say about it :D
Now, how to be able to wait a whole week for the next race, this will be hard!

Hm, maybe the stop should be cancelled then... I will look into it.

@Puffster: I will give my driver a stern talking to tomorrow. Tonight I'm a little distracted by celebrations. ^_^

(Also, three completely different bodies in the top three! After '55 - heck, after '45! - that's a refreshing sight.)

The other thing I will have to do tomorrow is take another look at my pit strategy. I may want to set up an earlier threshold for tyre pitting. Der Bayer, the number is percentage wear, correct?

@Packbat: Acknowledged and stuff will be correct next time. I apologize for that, i probably missed that small post. I highly respect that and it was not done on purpose on the stream.

About the Race Performance: Great Stuff, did not expect my FWD that high up. We surely need more rain! The more the better. Nice performance by puffster and a great battle between him and iRaptor till the end.
Hope you guys enjoyed the stream, if there is something to complain about, just complain.

Next stream date will be

6th of February 2016
Same time as before - and the YouTube Link will be spread just before the Stream.
Don't forget to subscribe in that case!

Re: BRC 1966 - Gentleman Brobots Club [RACE 2 P&Q]

Need some advice;

I used 0.87kg of fuel per lap in the 10 lap practise session at Snetterton, not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing but I was in the top 10 for 'Fuel'. My current strategy is two scheduled pits, the first one at 33% of the race to refuel and put new tyres on the and the second at 67% to just put on new tyres.

Is it better to refuel later, or maybe even not refuel at all? I'm guessing that if my fuel per lap is so low, my car is running efficiently then?

And another quick question: my tyre wear was at 4.85% and 4.87% for front and rear respectively, would it possibly be worth adding in another stop to change tyres again?

Any help is much appreciated.

If you plan to stop twice for tyres then you should also refuel at both stops because any fuel you add during the 10-15s of tyre change is effectively free.

Thanks for the support, Absurdist, 07CobaltGirl, strop, Pyrlix!

Fully agreed. In fact, if you look at studies of gamer demographics, it's close to a 50-50 gender ratio - most of the difference in who we see in a given space comes down to "can they safely participate?"

Okay, end of tangent.

You have a 47.0 kg tank and, given your lap-9 lap time (you had an error on lap 10), the race length for you is probably 60 laps max. At that distance, you will need to pit for fuel at some point, because 60 laps * 0.87 kg/lap = 52.2 kg.

I figure you have two ways you can play it: a two-pit strategy like Riso suggests (17.4 kg of fuel = 8.7 seconds, less than the tyre-change time) or a one-pit strategy like I've been doing. The latter would be one scheduled pit stop for fuel and tyres at 62% of race distance (implies a starting load of 34.1 kg and less than 20 kg of fuel taken at the stop - which means refueling time is strictly less than tyre change time), with an emergency stop replacing the scheduled stop within ... well, it's your choice, but as long as you take your fuel stop no earlier than 13% of the total race distance, you can make it to the end on one stop. So pit window width 49% or less.

If you're concerned about tyre wear - and I usually go by the amount that my laps slow down in practice, which I think was a little over half a second per lap after nine laps in your case (you had an error on your tenth lap) - then I say go for the two-stop strategy. I'm sticking with my one-stop strategy (this course seems to have less tyre wear than Silverstone), but that's a call each person needs to make on their own.

Re: BRC 1966 - Gentleman Brobots Club [RACE 1 NOW]

Wow! Thanks for the advice Packbat and Riso. I think a two pit strategy is still the best way to go, but I'm definetley changing the timings. An early refuel should mean I gradually lower my weight over the race, meaning the second stop would just have to be for tyres.
Also, thanks for doing all that maths for me!
