Re: BRC 1966 - Gentleman Brobots Club [BUILD]

Yes, that is basically correct. Plus it limits cornering speed in difficult cornering, but that effect is in the game already.

Hmmmmm. That's an interesting dynamic. In Automation, Sportiness seems to almost always yield better laptimes, yet here if there's not enough Drivability, your extra sportiness cannot be harnessed. I'll have to tinker. I wish I built this car first so that I would have had two tests in it before the deadline.

Re: BRC 1966 - Gentleman Brobots Club [BUILD]

I guess you could say that the 'difficulty' figure is about how consistently one can get those better laptimes. They are potentially better, but also be harder to hit.

Re: BRC 1966 - Gentleman Brobots Club [BUILD]

strop, that's a very good description. That being the case, I'm afraid to really adjust because my car seemed to get consistently faster as fuel burned off and tire wear seemed to not really hurt my times much in the wet. However, I know I'm not fast enough to make a run at the leaders, all else being equal. My car was on your heels for a few laps at the end, but you eventually just pulled away from me. I'm afraid the rest of the top-ten will do the same unless I can break into the 2:20.xx range at ATT.

I think I need to find some more time, but I only had one small error and I had a really steady climb into the top ten from 48th. I think there's something to be said for my gain of 39 positions. I guess I should be cautious about finding tenths on ATT when we will be at other tracks too...

Reliability is NOT my car's issue. Seriously, it's already 44.6!!

Re: BRC 1966 - Gentleman Brobots Club [BUILD]

@UMGaming: The way the formula is implemented, a car with 20 engine reliability is not much more* robust than a car with 40 engine reliability. The latter is better - my car, with it's 28.4 engine reliability, is more likely to fail in any given race than 07CobaltGirl's - but it's not something like 20% vs 2%. It's probably more like 10% vs 5%. And as any D&D player (or, especially, any D&D GM) will tell you, 5% chances happen at the wrong moment all the time. ;)

* Edit: Less robust. Not much less robust. Geez!

Re: BRC 1966 - Gentleman Brobots Club [BUILD]

I'm still a bit gutted mine went pop in the only test - but it's still really enjoyable. Need to make a few tweaks to up the pace a bit, use a bit more fuel and hopefully have slightly less British engineering quality in the next race. :D

It looks like my first BRC will be middle of the pack because I just can't drop those times.

I hear ya, my project is nowhere near the times I've seen, I think I'll shoot for hopefully not being humiliated.

Re: BRC 1966 - Gentleman Brobots Club [BUILD]

It usually takes a while to get your groove in this game. Like I said earlier, I was 33nd in the 1955 BRC.

(One thing you can do to add interest when you're well back from the leaders is pick someone closer to your speed as a rival. I spent a lot of races last season rooting for my little dot to catch up to 07CobaltGirl's - rarely did, if I recall.)

Re: BRC 1966 - Gentleman Brobots Club [BUILD]

If I finish the race and I'm not dead last, then I'll be happy. Otherwise I'll just have to work on something better.
