BRC 1966 - Gentleman Brobots Club [RACE 6 P&Q]
Supposing the next pre-season tests are more than 2 days away, I will have to consider that my car isn't qualifying particularly well but is doing very well in terms of endurance over a 90 minute period (dropping to 16th at the start due to a lack of pace but progressively overtaking the field after about the 45 minute mark. Weather may have had something to do with it). I did look up all the tracks and found there to be a wide and pretty even mix. Still not sure what I want to do, but I notice this time there is no 'dropping the 2 worst races' in the rules, as far as I can see. Can I get confirmation that all races will count? Because that will definitely change things in terms of ideal reliability... won't be so tempted to drop it to, say, 18 and hope the engine doesn't kaboom too often

I would also like to know the scoring system. Good call on that one Strop. What tyres did you use Strop? Maybe if you didn't use slicks you car would perform proportionally better in the wet, as per the charts.

No drop results this time. Scoring is in the OP.
Engine reliability has been scaled for the 90 Minute races. 30 is the rough guideline, but you can be lucky with values below that or unlucky with values above that of course.

If I don't use slicks and the race starts in the dry, I'll be in real trouble ha. I'm fairly sure my car has quite a bit of room to move. I mean, I only built it to do 2:41.6 in de-randomised BROBOT mode. It's probably a fair bit porkier than the faster qualifying vehicles.

everyone got reliability above 30, meanwhile im praying my new engine doesnt explode since its only have below 20 reliability

finally..... im actually making a car that ALMOST breaks the 2:20 mark with 50 reliability overall (33.4 engine)
now the question is..... is the extra second worth it?
my current submitted car is almost a full second slower, but have 66 reliability and better fuel economy. and im pretty sure less tirewear due to less agressive camber
not to mention better drivability because FR vs MR.....
im sure it's faster for at least the first 30% of the race... but endurance...... still not sure...

i somehow think that tip is a bit misleading...... hmmmmm :b
but really. i just watched the race now, and your car wasn't as fast, but you have some really good stratiegery.
also im still considering getting 2:20 with an undercooled engine and get 50.1 reliability, or slightly slower but gets 57,8 reliability.

pretty sure you want a car that race faster in 90 mins instead just two and half mins, you clearly dont want a car that will just hug the pitstop all the race

Got my car running sub 2:20 with 32 engine reliability, 235 kmh+ on the back straight, and insanely low camber.... still needs work.... Only revving to 8300 (low based on my previous engines)

Re: strategy: at least in the tests, pit stops are freaking QUICK. I think you lose more time on pit entry and exit than you do refueling and replacing tyres. (I mean, fifteen-second pit stops isn't all that unrealistic for 1966, but still.) A lot of what I've been doing has been based on reducing pit stops and reducing time in the pits, but that might not be the best strategy.

Well, Marcu could have won if he had gotten a set of fresh tyres and iraptor was just tearing it up on intermediates but then the rain picked up again and he lost his three seconds a lap advantage.

Haha, I'm sorry, found some nice golden settings on my v12 engine, just did the fuel calculations and seeing ~79kg of fuel usage for Automation with a 55.9 tank (1 pit stop) and ~111 kg of fuel for something like Norisring (1 pit stop).
Camber is all the way down at -.20 / -.60 so I think my front tires could almost last the whole race
Annoyed that the old problems of re-opening a car file seems to change settings in the background, car is suddenly 20 kg lighter this morning and now has too much HP....
EDIT: It seems that messing with the body of the car causes things to go a little wonky, pulled out the nose of the car for better weight distribution and now no matter what I do it will not go back to the 2:19:50 I had.... its stuck in the 2:21 range...

I am sorry to hear that but then you should have copied the trim as backup and/or exported/saved the trim.
Edit: if the body itself was completely default it should be easy to reset.

That's the main reason why I'm not sweating my 2:21ish time - Automation's calculations are sufficiently nondeterministic that I don't want to waste time chasing tenths that might be borne of glitches.
