When you will post results (soon?), you could add some info about every engine so we also get to compare our "real achievements", if lap times really rely so much on body decision.

Of course I also want to show a bit of info on the different engines, so that's important for me too.
You can have a look at the second post on the first. I have prepared a spreadsheet with a lot of extra info, like I did for the demo car.
I just dont want to spoil more info now before the deadline is over (next weekend)

Re: AVUS Grosser Preis von Berlin (1990) 1000/2000 cm³

I started playing around a bit with cars for the 1991 ruleset.

I think the minimum required cooling = cooling required rule will go. Not only is it very hard to check for me, but also cancels out meticulous gains in engine performance.

As far as i am concerned the 50/50 rule was fine, and all participants have fullfilled it. There is no reason a race car needs to fulfill the reliablilty of a road car. 50,000 km is already a lot.

Here another update on the rules 1991. One rule less :)

I also reduce the displacement somewhat, it is more than enough.

Also so far so far no compelling reason to rule out the Porsche. I have compared with other car bodies and some of them can get equal or better times.

From the madness that is the CPV shed comes a pair of race cars that will literally result in someone's imminent death. Both use the same 1liter turbo engine with... some horsepower, one mounted transversely in the front and the other way back longitudinally in the rear. The rear engined red one pays tribute paid to it's ancestor with a top speed of a very fitting 356 kph.

I likeeh ;)

P.S. the sound of that engine is so sick, I have to seriously turn down my volume.

AVUS and nialloftara have agreed to announce that the car with the number 10 (CPV, United States of America) has set a fantastic new track record!

Times etc will of course remain secret until the official result.

356??? That's... Significantly fast. And I can't help but think the RR format is actually a sizeable advantage in this format.

Time to bite the bullet and perform a direct body comparison.

It's simply sick. It's currently faster than my first cars for the 1991 rules that have the larger engines (without quality boost that is, with quality they will be faster)

P.S. I told you that it's a very fast track :)

Re: AVUS Grosser Preis von Berlin (1990) 1000/2000 cm³

Also what do you think about my suggestion to give only the best car (of each team) a finishing place?

Otherwise the problem is that most participants would occupy two places, often with similar cars. And I dont like that.
While Microwaves cars imo qualify as two entirely seperate designs, AirJordans have similar engine, nialloftara's have identical engines, Koolkeis cars are just different setups (although he said he is still working on a new car). I have also erased awildgermanappears very first entry because the new one was the same but with vast improvements, the first one was a bit behind anyway.

Another option would be to award finishing places only to cars with absolutely individual engine and chassis, but that gives some arbiting power to me.

And that's why I've built two entirely different cars.

I can award every team two spots if the cars are different enough (different chassis and engine) but then the decision would be mine. Is everyone ok with that?

Re: AVUS Grosser Preis von Berlin (1990) 1000/2000 cm³

Well, I'll say, I finally tested out the not-356 body. It simply leaves my other build for dead due to RR format option. I haven't worked out how the hell to get the car to go 356, though, that's some seriously good aero:power config going there.

But I do know that my cars currently seem to get around the track faster if I gear it a bit shorter anyway... and the times are tumbling.

Re: AVUS Grosser Preis von Berlin (1990) 1000/2000 cm³

While the RR is far faster I actually like the concept of the FF version, it's just so insane. While there is substantial turbo lag, i dumped most of the budget into the engine so once you hit boost it's a race to see if you can hold the wheel against the torque steer long enough to grab the next gear, then your right back in boost and holding on untill redline in the next gear. All the while sitting in basically aa painted cardboard box.
