Re: thecarlover's mods - Murciélago now available!

Sounds good!

I have to reiterate, this is a seriously valuable addition to the range of supercar bodies and you've put out a whole lot of great work lately, for which I (and I'm sure we) are deeply appreciative. Even more so compared to myself who hasn't put in the time to make or export the models.

(Other quick question: what's the cited drag coefficient of this body?)

Thanks! The drag coefficient of the Murciélago is 0.33, but the McLaren body in game is around 0.19 or something. The real values factor in drag from vents, door handles, etc, so I made the in-game one 0.25. The Murciélago has more drag (and downforce) than the real McLaren, so I figured that was a decent estimate without the vents, and considering the lower front area is a big flat slab.

Edit: I also modified the kei car so the turbo doesn't stick through the bumper (I finally got to working on something that brought that up).

Re: thecarlover's mods - Murciélago now available!

0.19! no wonder that is by far and away the most advantageous body when it comes to high speed performance. It's also the only car I've been able to get to 500km/h with anywhere even remotely close to adequate cooling (read: not really adequate at all  )

I will have to think of a unique approach to this giant slab... it already easily gets into the 6:30s around Green Hell and I'm not even trying yet...

Re: thecarlover's mods - Murciélago now available!

I made minor changes to the Murciélago model! Standalone and Steam versions have been updated.

Edit: I should also mention that minor tweaks had shrunk the mid engine bay space, so I grew it a bit to compensate... and now it takes up to 11.4L V12s. This is what Bob Ross meant with "happy little accidents" so enjoy!

Re: thecarlover's mods - Murciélago now available!

90s supercar update! I still need to do some work on the front to flaten out the hood and make the area more wedge-shaped, and then fix up the morphs for that area. I should also mention that this isn't so much a Diablo as a fairly generic early late 80s/early 90s supercar that's just a somewhat simple modification of the Murciélago. The back got changed a lot, as did the smoothing groups, so it looks even more different it seems to here.

If I squint, I see a Bugatti EB110 in the making... :D Thanks again!

I'd also like to try out the car with the newly-enlarged engine bay. I couldn't recreate the Murcielago LP640 with the actual displacement (88mm bore x 89mm stroke) and all-wheel drive before... :P but it works now!

Nothing close to the EB110, though I had thought of making one at some point. Since this will be the 1990s mid-engine supercar, I won't make an EB110 for the foreseeable future. Maybe at some point in time, but cars that fill holes in the current selection are my priority.

It's close enough for me! :P But I'm with you on that one - I'd much prefer to see a wider variety of (as yet unfilled designs for) cars/trucks.

Re: thecarlover's mods - Murciélago now available!

I was able to make a 3000+ HP AWD Hypercar out of the Not-Murcielago body.
Of course it won't break any top speed records due to the drag, but it is insanely fast. (Top speed is 318 IIRC)

I'm looking at the Pontiac Trans Sport/Chevrolet Lumina for my next project. Hardly a "desirable" vehicle, but we could use a streamlined 80s/90s minivan.

@nerd: clearly a lot more power is available from a turbocharged V8 than NA V12. If you want to reduce the drag, add some lips/wings to the car and adjust their aerodynamics. Nice to see this body being used for what it was intended :)

I'm going to be whacking a turbo V12 in there, you can bet on it! Ludicrous power awaits!

It's that the body has a higher drag coefficient than the Not-Mclaren body, thus lowering top speed.

Fun fact: those minivans were assembled just outside my hometown!

edit: as long as there's enough room for a transverse 97mm bore V6 (ie. GM 3800) in your future minivan, I'll be happy. :P

Well, I wouldn't mind a minivan, honestly. Something basic 90's minivan mixup?

Also wouldn't mind seeing a 2010's sedan at some point. Alternatively, a big 1940's or 1950's era luxury car, like a Mercedes or a Rolls Royce. But definitely, we need more than just the one minivan.

I don't know anything about 3D modeling, but how difficult would it be to, say, split a sedan in between the front and rear doors and make a limousine out of it? Figured I'd ask you as you seem to have figured out an efficient way to take an idea and make it something in game rather quickly.

Either way, I look forward to seeing a new minivan at some point.

I have an idea of a huge mid-late 1940s GT car, the kind that could swallow a V16 engine. As for making a limo, that could be pretty easy, actually. Would just need to separate the car between the doors, clone a bit of each door up to the cut area, move the edges to line up with the separated parts of the body and just weld the roof and skirts together. It would be harder for a car with a sloping shoulder line, as that middle area would be a flat part to the slope unless each door got modified to compensate, but something flat like my Continental would be easy.
