Re: AMWEC '15 [Results first race]

So the results for each class are like this:
(I hope I read this right)

AP1:
    1. Squidhead
    2. Sillyworld
    3. iRaptor
AP2:
    1. Denta
    2. Sebesseg
    3. AirJordan
AGTE:
    1. Strop
    2. Sillyworld
    3. Acemaster

Did I do it right? :)

Re: AMWEC '15 [Results first race]

Qualifiers: did not actually have the fastest lap of the race. Could we have any info on how many accidents and pit stops we had? I enjoyed a pretty big margin but I'm curious to know if this is due to pace, or ease of driving, or luck, or a combination.

(Also pos 19, the best lap time derped)

I know im asking for more work to be done, but having a qualifying results the day before the race results would be great. Maybe just track times out of the game without the randomness.

That is correct!

That can be done, but those will be times with no effect on the race, just for entertaiment :)

That would actually give us more info on which car is best suitable to which track and get a better idea on what to expect during the race. No effect on the race, naturally, and no points for that, but as an undiluted comparison it could actually be informative.

Re: AMWEC '15 [Results first race]

Well OK then I got completely opposite results to what i was expecting. I was quite pleased with the LMPC and and its production variant, but I think its comparatively under-powered trying to keep economy high. On the other end I didn't care too much for Spina. Apparently the Spina is better than I gave it credit for and the LMPC does the opposite.

Though its still the first race so the LMPC might have done better elsewhere and the Spina not so. Overall though I think I misinterpreted what would do well.

I thought I would do badly. I didn't think I'd do that bad though.

Ow. That doesn't satisfy me. Maybe the car wasn't setupped very well for long courses, who knows.

Re: AMWEC '15 [First race results!]

Not the result I was looking for or expecting. Hopefully there is good reasoning behind that.

I guess I better introduce my team as well while I'm here.

Welcome BackFire Motors to the 2015 season of the AMWEC, the latest team to enter the series. BackFire Motors, or BFM, is a privately owned and funded team that has had a great deal of success in many amateur racing series, and moderate success in pro-am racing series, and has now made the jump to the professional level after a year of silence due to a rocky ending of the previous season that left the team unstable and unfit to return again the following season. Fielding an AP1 entry, BFM aimed for the big dogs right off the bat. Because of its past experience in amateur and pro-am racing, BFM decided to run a factory-ready entry from the HP Craftworks (My car company which will be coming soon. Probably.) racing branch, the newly developed Model X15. However, the car was originally set to be released for the 2016 racing season, but under a special agreement development and production were rushed for BFM with the intentions that running the car in the 2015 season would better prepared for it's official unveiling. However, this push in development meant that the car would get very little time for testing and polishing the details before it's racing debut, leading to a complete lack of preparation and knowledge about the car and it's dynamics before it's first race.

Due to it's hiatus during the 2014 season BFM lost most of it's team, from it's drivers to it's mechanics, and some of it's engineers. Because of this, BFM had to rush to get a team together, basically taking anyone they could find, however there were a couple diamonds in the rough that they were able to salvage. The team dynamic at the moment is edgy as everyone tries to get acquainted with both themselves and the car.

((I was going to say more, but this is getting long, I'm getting tired, and it's starting to look like a lot of work. So if you want more info about anything regarding BFM simply comment your questions below.))

Cheers - Racer13

Re: AMWEC '15 [First race results!]

24hrs of Spa-Francochamps Review
Image

After a long wait, the 2015 edition of the Automation Motorsport World Endurance Championship has begun, with the 24 hrs of Spa-Francochamps! And what a race, but first, let's discuss the AP1 specs that were released a couple of days ago.

The AP1 Class cars are specially made for racing, with teams expending quite a lot just developing these cars. Sure, with an averge of 556.31hp it's easy to think that a road sport car has more power, but it won't go as fast. Take the NV810 for example. With only 467hp It can go from 0-100km/h in 3.1s, 1/4 mile in 10.5s and brake from 100km/h to a stop in 26 meters. If you want one you will have to pay $150,700 plus over $7,000 a year. And You can't take it on public roads (altough it can run a 24 hrs race under full throttle).
There are 10 Mid-engine cars and 3 front-engine cars, 10 V8s, 2 V6s and 1 L6. The engine that captures my attention is the one in the Exilus, a massive 5.5 liters in-line 6, with 433lb-ft at 4,900 rpm and 540hp at 7,000 rpm, it's the engine with the largest power band in the competition.
On the other hand, the Alpha and the Prima 1 are the cars with the higher output, pushing over 700hp (as they are the heaviest cars), they probably can't corner as fast as others, but they will definetly be seizing all the long straights.
Finally, the RRSX-R (I really like the looks of the car) and the Il Capo will be fighting each other, since the both share almost the same displacement and almost the same power and torque (Il Capo is lighter tho).

Now onto the race!
See the overall results here ---> viewtopic.php?f=39&t=8291&start=220#p89600
And the Championship scoring in the OP

The champion on this first round is the Zeus GT Spec (basically a Znopresk Zeus on Gryphon Gear stereoids) with a huge gap of 10 laps!, proving that the AGTE cars can compite with the technologically advanced AP1 cars. In second place it's the Kraft Haus Technik's Sepang, one of the most-well-balanced cars and in third the Vulcan GT, followed by the M128 LM, both cars from Meliora Automotive (after their Hot Hatch Cup participation viewtopic.php?f=39&t=8160#p84968 this surely feels like a victory for the manufacturer). The Prima and Spina came 5th and 6th and considering the AP2 hard regulations it's amazing how good these cars performed on the track. Finally the NV810, against all odds ended in 3rd place in the AP1 Class (7th overall) despide of being quite underpower and beating over 700hp machines.
Next week we'll be flying to South America for the 6h de São Paolo! Have fun and stay racing my friends.

Here are the scores divided by classes:
Image

Some figures:
  • The winning car covered 3,558.032 kilometers and used 410.38 liters of fuel.
  • The fastest lap was 2:40.319 by the Vulcan GT (another AGTE car).
  • The LMPC by Luther-Mulholland used only 258.54 liters of fuel, about 63% of the fuel used by the Zeus GT Spec.
  • Of the top 10 cars, 4 were AP1, 3 AP2 and 3 AGTE.
  • The NV810 and the Zeus GT are so drivable they didnt have any minor accident. However the Zeus had 17 pit stops and the NV810 only 7!

Re: AMWEC '15 [First race results!]

so my AP2 Prima is on podium, even on first place. thats really out of my expextation actually

my AP1 pretty much on my expectation, but my AGTE is somewhat disappointment. guess i shouldn't forget to think power/weight ratio when im tuning my weight distribution on my AGTE

Re: AMWEC '15 [First race results!]

Funny ti see my AP1 Alpha and AP2 Beta so close as they are two opposite cars. It seems that fine tunning is everything. Not quite sure whatsup with gamma as it is the most driveable and economic car of my team.

Nice review. I know why F15 lost that hard in Spa - this track has bumps and my model has suspension prepared for flat tracks.
