Re: What car maker are you going to base your company on?

id probably try and base mine on toyota - but do it the way i thought it should be in real life - ie everything moves a engine class up - so the likes of the starlet gets the 1600CC range with hot options instead of 1300cc - corollas get 2L engines instead fo 1600's - celicas and MR2's get 2.5L V6's - the big stuff gets the inline 6 2.5 and 3L NA or Turbo engines but they also get the 4L v8 with or without turbo - and the likes of the soarer that got the 3L inline 6 and 4L V8 get them again but also the option of 5L V10 or 6L V12 :D

imagine today if toyota did that - the V10's and V12's would be common enough that the engines would get swapped into other cars as much as the 1JZ and 2JZ engines do today :D

Reliant all the way! please make sure you include the ability to make 3-wheel cars out of fibreglass that tip over in a light breeze!

Currently I'm going to base my company on Peugeot and Citroen, they have very beautiful cars (Peugeot RCZ for example), but then I'll develop my own concept

Koenigsegg and Chevy. Koenigseggs are super fast and good looking, while chevys just look good. Accually, i'm gonna aim to be original, and not base my cars on anything. (Although i'm entitled to my opinions)

Not really basing on anything either, but Ford and Dodge during their turbo crazy days are my main inspirations.

Bad interiors, cheese wedge or brick appearance, and turbos, lots n lots of turbos.

Re: What car maker are you going to base your company on?

It will be sure a mix of Volvo and Saab, with some small national manufacturers' elements (e.g. Zastava, Aselsan, FNM, AvtoVAZ, Dacia, Tata, Proton...). I'll probably introduce a barebone baseline car from the beginning: a people's car, much like a Fiat Topolino, Citroen 2CV and, of course, VW Type 1.

Ford for most things but a dash of Subaru for the small cars. I will attempt to keep RWD alive for the Sedans and make lots of Turbo Flat 4s and V-8 cars lol

I don't think I'm going to emulate any particular company. Instead I'll probably do my own thing.

If any company in particular, it's Jaguar/Land Rover. Ford is a lifelong fave, so judicious amounts of it as well.

This is definitely what I want to do. Right now I'm contemplating whether or not to go for the $35 pre-order, just so I can have V-16 engines and play out my fantasy of a modern, revived Duesenberg.

Re: What car maker are you going to base your company on?

I'll try the Ferrari road; I'd try Alfa but they ultimately failed so much times that it doesn't really work out as an objective, lol

At least I'll try my idea of Ferrari's: overpriced, under engineered, fatally stylish and quick as hell when they actually work.

And then a cheapo car maker buying off design (if available) and cutting corners to make low quality replica at a margin.

And I've a bazillion more crazy idea I'll just try out after that

I'd like to build my own British Leyland. But I won't let it be run by government officials. And I most certainly won't be on Triumphs side neglecting MG, like the real BL was ;)

Re: What car maker are you going to base your company on?

my main company will definitely be based on Ford, though for one thing, I won't mess up the Mustang II. I definitely will not be following anyone strictly, but the primary inspiration will be Ford.
I'll probably run another company that makes bagillion dollar cars, but makes them well enough for rich people to buy them (ferrari meets rolls royce, I suppose)
Oh, and there will be a little bit of Volvo in every car I make... not a lot, just a bit, since that's where my dad worked until Ford bought them out
