Re: BRC 1955 - The Golden Age [Qualifying R3]

Just had a look, given it's drag that is 2/3rds of any other car, i would suggest banning it.

If we did, it would open up the options a lot, I think we would see a lot more variety.

Ban the non-Sprite body, or change the name of the challenge to: "n-SC 1965" (non-Sprite Challenge)

Either that, or significantly raise the power to weight ratio limits to give people more to weigh up!

Re: BRC 1955 - The Golden Age [Qualifying R3]

What about a minimum weight? Somewhat common with racing. 900 kilos? The not-sprite could still be used, as it can be heavier (900 might be a stretch), and other bodies would be more competitive to allow more diversity on the track. On a side note, I did manage to get my coupe body down to right around 900 kilos (not for the season though). ;)

No matter what happens, we know that with DCOE carburators being an option for the 65 races, that it's going to be good times.

...I'm tempted to stick with my single-barrels. Gonna have to examine the tradeoffs and see what they look like.

The DCOE adds over $700 to the engine costs, it does not seem worth it yet (I only got 1 extra HP switching from 4 barrels to DCOE while losing 6kg.... not worth imo)
Man, I hope 1965 gets to use hp/kg of .25

The 1945 was .15 and 1955 was .20, .25 in 1965 seems like a safe bet.

Re: BRC 1955 - The Golden Age [Qualifying R3]

In regards to the non-sprite body being used, I made 4 cars with varying bodies and tactics following the 0.25 hp/kg, 195 mm tires and $9000. Here are the results at ATT.

The sleek '65 body (light weight) : 2:34.4 (top speed: 223 km/h)
The sleek '65 body (heavier) : 2:35.1 (top speed: 234 km/h)
The muscle car (Just over 1 tonne) : 2:35.7 (top speed: 236 km/h)
The non-sprite (light weight, 185 mm) : 2:32.2 (top speed: 241 km/h)

I spent a lot of time on the three first ones while I spent about 15 min on the non-sprite. I don't think the non-sprite should be used because its so much faster.

I even started working on a 1975 version; sitting at 2:28. Might be a bit early to start working on that. :D

Re: BRC 1955 - The Golden Age [Qualifying R3]

Just wondering, are those top speeds what you saw on the track, or max speed for the car?
I definitely did not think the non-sprite was going to be competitive in '65, but apparently I just can not build it well....

Max speed for the cars. On the track the first one did 219 km/h, second: 223 km/h, third: 224km/h, fourth: 230 km/h.

I see, my current car classifies as the "muscle car" u built and will hit ~223 on the back straight, however its max speed is 271khp and it hits it on monza :)

I did basically the same thing. I got down to 2.32 with a weeks worth of tuning on the standard cars and 2.31 just trying out the non-sprite.
