Cobalt seemed to pass the finish before I did, but it looks like the retirement put her behind anyway, I would be happy for the standings to be altered accordingly.


Not really as exciting a race I think. But I still enjoyed it. Got some points which was a surprise! The points table really has opened up. Mattmr2 in sixth!

Answer to the thirsty CobaltGirl issue: The amount of fuel at the start of qualifying and race is calculated from average fuel consumption in training plus a safety margin. The actual fuel consumption in the race can be a little bit different because of unpredictable influences like being held up, making errors and accelerating almost from standstill again, drafting etc. So in this case the safety margin was a tiny bit too small.

Actually she finished one place above where she was displayed in the end. The retirement message was triggered too soon and thus the sorting algorithm thought she was out. But I gave her the correct number of championship points according to the position when she actually crossed the line.

Answer to the engine failure issue: The engines do not carry over wear from the first race into the second one. It's a pure coincidence that nobody had to retire in the first race. I clear the whole Matlab workspace between races, so I'm 1000% sure. Norman just has bad luck.

Just wondering what people are seeing for Automation track times in their preliminary '65 builds. I am having a hard time with the suspension again....
Also trying to utilize the cool V6's they finally put in and just got under 2:39 on ATT, not sure where this stacks up against others.

Yay! I got points! I saw the finish in front of absurdist and then watched the position change and was totally freaking out. Then I saw the message about the fuel and was like...ok....but....didn't I cross first? Thanks Martin for catching it! They said the 2nd race was boring, but I was biting my nails the whole time watching as I was held up behind The Bob Wiley for such a long long time!! I was jumping up and down as I passed him, and then passed absurdist on the last lap!! It wasn't boring for me! So stoked my car wasn't completely useless this season. I hope 1965 will be better for SME though. 1955 has been a wash just like 1945 was for us.

Edit: I think I was already under 2:40 on the 1955 one. And my car is far from the leader on the ATT

Meh, you can get a general idea of what the next requirements may be based on the previous races. I am mainly just messing around in automation with my free time, but have been unmotivated to do the actual work involved with making my car company on here as nice as I want :\

Well, as long as you weren't holding me up intentionally *wink wink*, at least it proves my car doesn't suck as much as I previously thought. It's fast! It's just really really really really really really (ad nauseam) heavy and still kinda sucks.

Nearly all of the non-sprites were below 2:40 on ATT in 1955. I already have a basic concept of my 1965 entry built too. I know it will have to be tweaked for entry, but you can get some ideas about what the restrictions/requirements will be based on the two previous seasons.

Forward to the 1965 race, because it will be the first year that I can enter a proper production car from LHE I don't expect to be that fast though, as the Comstar is going to be too heavy to be competitive.

Here's what worries me.

Is there any reason that the same body won't be hands down faster in the next one too? It's just so light and has so little drag.
I really worry that it will be still dominant. I haven't even looked at what's available though yet, what bodies have you guys been testing with?

The sprite is awful, the only viable body I see is the actual race car body that is available because the sprite can only hold tiny tires/brakes. My current car has 205mm tires, it will either be that or 195mm for the requirements. 250+ kph top speed (hit 222kph on ATT), feels slow :\
