I wonder why the first group was so much faster than the second group, as a whole I mean? I get they were the top finishers from round 1, but it looks like they were all consistently faster around this track, by a few seconds!

Brands Hatch is very short and technical. While I qualified 8th for Automation track, my 11th in warm-up is indicative that I'll be slipping in the rankings. I tuned my entry (somewhat) for Green Hell, which is going to make my particular entry suffer this time around.

Not sure how indicative this will be overall, since this is just training, but here's a few movement figures when comparing Race 1 Qualifying to the training session that just happened.

Killdrop dropped 6 spots. TheBobWiley jumped 5 upward. I went down 3. Tycondero went up 4. Mer_at up 3. Mattmr2 up 4.

But again, big difference between training and qualifying.

I just do the race preset, then I adjust camber with trial and error, finding the fastest-setup, and finally I adjust the rest with the same technique.

When I'm pressed for time (most of the time right now), this too is the approach I use, colloquially speaking it yields 95% of the result for 5% of the effort. Though sometimes strange outliers still do pop up. As for camber, lap times generally seem best when the balance is pushed as close to neutral as possible as long as possible without flicking into terminal oversteer, though this does also reduce drivability relative to sportiness.

I was lucky and basically had a week free right when this whole thing was getting started, which incidently was the same time I found about this game on steam and got it. Definitely won't have that kind of time for the next race, whenever it happens, but I learned a lot in that week playing around with the game. I will hopefully be better and faster at tuning for the next race.

Congrats Bob, if the first races are anything to go by I'll likely lose places on the start so I suspect you might one up me. Really looking forward to this. Looks like there's a few guys going to make this race that didn't get in last time. I kinda want Nialloftara to get in because I like his car, but it looks like it'll be a bit of a long shot.

Holy crap KillRob lost a lot of places. I'm scared for GreenHell, his car will be mega I think.

I think you'll have a chance for points in this one Strop.

I'm not so sure about that! I really wouldn't mind if I didn't score any points here at any rate, certainly my car was not at all put together with any expectation of being competitive, it was just trying to make for something "average" but also very light. So far, things are going about as expected.

Im not so sure what the differences are for this track compared to previous. Bob has good cornering and it pays off. I do not have exceptionel cornering, but more all round and I gained some places. I think this track also favours a decent top speed, but less than with the automation track.

17th, with a tendency to ding fenders doesn't look good for me.

Slipped to 12th. Not unexpected. My only shot at a decent finish is hoping that my driver can avoid all of the carnage on this track.

Re: Re: BRC - Out of the Steam - 1945 [Race 2 Qualifying]

A little slower than my fastest lap in training, but 25th is where I predicted and 25th is where I placed.

I may be able to edge out a few places on straight-line speed, but I think it'll come down to whether I survive or not. Hopefully being the larger car will pay off....
