Re: Where'd the SAVE buttons go?

Not only simpler, more intuitive too. (I realize that was sarcasm, yet I chose to ignore it because what you said is (no caps) actually true.)

Oh, and regarding customer opinions, they're very important, but only when a majority has the same opinion. With all due respect, you're pretty insignificant when you're too stubborn to adapt to the new system. Almost everyone else has re-learnt the save system and has happily accepted it whether they like it or not.

Killrob wrote:We definitely need to explain the saving system better though, that I fully agree with and we are aware that this is an issue. That is actually in the works with better tutorial videos about this and better / added tooltips. And no, you won't get the old system back because the new one, once explained properly and used properly is far superior in functionality and UI flow.

Agreed, but it does take some getting used to, obviously. On the other hand yes, I also agree that the new flow, while more versatile, does have some hard limitations which take some care getting around. For example, I'm one of those people who like to go changing my designs and giving models facelifts. I'm also one of those people who like to spend about 20 hours designing a single car. So it's not as easy to do that on a whim when you have to make sure you only have one trim and one variant of a model that you want to edit, otherwise those elements are locked, but I'll accept that, because I can see how this will work in tycoon mode.

The thing I haven't yet verified is whether the Hold and Revert buttons work perfectly yet. But that aside, surely one realises that the "Hold" button is essentially a "Save" button except with Autosave turned on?

(hey, there's an idea. Maybe have an option in the UI to turn Autosave off? That might help us compulsive savers haha).

Re: Where'd the SAVE buttons go?

I hated the new system too, and I still end up overwriting a trim setting or engine now and then. But it's got a lot of potential, once we learn to properly use the hold revert and clone buttons.

No one blew anything, last time I checked, many people are still buying the game and are happy with it, therefore I call it successful. If you think otherwise then you're entitled to your opinion.

Added a check to detect if an engine has been deleted on loading

Fixed renaming of trims & variants after a copy/clone was made

Huh. Go Figure...

Is that supposed to prove to me that Automation was a complete and utter failure? Not really doing it for me, sorry. If you'd like to continue this conversation, PM me.

Every game has its bugs with every system, this saving works fine other than a few bugs.

Re: Where'd the SAVE buttons go?

Congratulations on discovering that the game still in beta has periodic bug fixes, and is in fact still being made. :ugeek:

I do not think Automation was a complete failure. What is does prove is that I'm not the only one who reservations about this issue. I do not think for a minute that you hurried these changes out on my account; ergo, you guys must have known it didn't work too well. Otherwise, a patch would not have been in the works, right? Pally, it's game, set, and match. You all stubbed your toe; you just don't have the sack to admit it.

And I'd prefer to keep this public, so no PM's. Capiche?

What better time is there to point out a problem?

Not to belabor the obvious, but isn't pointing out "a few bugs" the point of beta testing?

Re: Where'd the SAVE buttons go?

Well, if the new update was put on hold until everything was completely spot-on, without any need for the players to use logic to workaround minor temporary problems/bugs, or to even think at all, then you would still be waiting for said update. And you know what longer waiting means? More complaints from people wondering where the shiny new update is. The system works as intended, though it's just a bit difficult to understand right now as its main purpose will be served as part of the tycoon mode. Until then it's not that relevant, but it is still here so that people are used to it by the time they will need to use it for the tycoon mode.

TL;DR - Fixing every tiny bug in the closed beta = much longer wait times for updates = bigger issues than is the case here. The system can be confusing, but once you get used to it, it's no great hardship, and it will make much more sense in the tycoon mode. That's what you get in a game which is still in development I'm afraid. :)

Re: Where'd the SAVE buttons go?

We have nothing against the reporting of bugs, beta testers can only do so much. However, telling the Dev team that they don't have the "sack" to admit something isn't acceptable at all. You seem to think that the problem is that you're pointing out a flaw/bug in the game, and we don't seem to want to accept it. What the real problem is isn't that you're pointing out a problem/stating your opinion, but the manner in which you are doing so.

Just keep repeating this mantra: We replaced one button with three...... we replaced one button with three.

Also, if you check the record, I think you'll see the negative tone was started on your end, when you called into doubt my 25+ years of writing software. You will notice that I refrained from the suggestion that your superior attitude might have something to do with you being in Germany. I'd never do that; wouldn't be prudent.

P.S. M3's are nice. I, myself, had an M5. Until the (quite expensive) engine grenaded all over the H1 freeway in Hawaii. I buy Japanese now.
