Small transverse engine..too big?

I find it impossible to recreate cars like the 1979 Golf (Rabbit) GTI, or Lancia Delta, because a 1500cc transverse engine is always too big, no matter what. The 1500cc Lancia Delta engine actually had a 87mm Bore, which makes it more impossible.
Recreating a 1970 Austin Mini seems completely impossible, with its 990cc engine...

Am I doing something wrong, or are engines (transverse) just unrealistically big? Or enginerooms too small?

Re: Small transverse engine..too big?

Transverse gearboxes are too big. They will be made smaller in the future.
