Re: BRC - Out of the Steam - 1945 [BUILD]

Quick question for you Der Bayer, whenever I review my entry I notice that SOMETHING somewhere changes when I click on oh lets say the aero button right after loading, my car "loses" a few kg and gains a few MPG (and probably more subtle changes as well, etc), what is happening? It does this every time I load my car so it is NOT saving whatever changes into the LUA file at all. Bit confused and concerned here that the car I sent is not what I see on my end....... The change is enough that I gain 0.2 on Green Hell when I test after just clicking on one of the tabs. Is it possible you could "verify" if you have this issue as well with my car or if it is just on my end?

EDIT: NVM, did a file verification check, had 4 files that failed and needed to be re-downloaded, now my car is $545 over budget......... I think something was messed up in the game to ruin the calculations, will send a fixed entry soon if you will accept it.

EDIT 2: Seems that after the verification check I no longer get the warning that "This engine was created with a different version of Automation" error message, looks like my patch was not fully implemented and only a verification of the files caught it, makes me wonder how often the pre-steam version was "corrupted" over time.

Don't worry, he will. And you can send him an updated version later as long as it's before the cut off date :D

As somebody who went over my old files hundreds of times within the same install of b1418, basically, if you went through each and every tab, the file would refresh fine and should have behaved consistently, something I'm struggling with at present (is it anything to do with the way the live calculations updates?)

The snapshots of the cars in the thumbnail however would have painted a different story, as the stats displayed were taken at different times and were often different to the car's real stats, so I tended to disregard those.

With a new lower rev engine finally got a little under 3 minutes; 2:59.64 is nearly 3 minutes, but that means i'm on the right track, i was to optimistic trying to run a 9000 rpm engine with only 3 gears maybe?

Re: BRC - Out of the Steam - 1945 [BUILD]

I dont see the advantage of an engine that small. I put in a small engine for a test, had to sacrifice HP because the weight dropped (need to keep hp/kg ratio), and lost 4 seconds of track time even adjusting everything else.

I am getting sub 3 minute lap times with my 1.9l I6 which redlines only around 5,000rpm.

Re: BRC - Out of the Steam - 1945 [BUILD]

So today's update changed my engine configuration...... so much for 5 hours of precise tuning last night :(
EDIT: Not gonna complain, picked up an extra HP and 2 mph top speed for the same weight ratio :)
Double EDIT: Car costs over x2 as much.... wtf..... read the patch notes, but nothing seems like it should have changed costs unless quality sliders got massively buffed?

I had the same issue earlier, turned out I had a couple corrupted game files that after I had Steam re-verify all the calculations changed. I have a feeling something in my (and probably your) game messed with the calculations enough to make us THINK we had something we didnt. When yours updated it probably overwrote some of the files and now they are correct.

EDIT: Just checked mine, I am again $545 OVER the $7k limit and I didnt change anything...............wait a second.......the game reverted my engine name back to what it was before, going to insert the files I sent Der Bayer back in and see what happens, those were named properly.

EDIT 2: I had to delete EVERYTHING and copy back from my saved zip file, everything looks good now.

It does around a race track. Torque affects corner exit acceleration in a big way, especially at speed where high-speed drag is an issue (which is why torque makes little/no difference in Automation).
