Re: Include Radial Engine

How would that fit in a car though? The only radial cars I've seen have been crazy conversions with half of the engine sticking out.

Re: Include Radial Engine

i Remember seen a Rotary Engine(Not Wankel) which is the closest engine design to a Radial engine on a Adams Farwell Car in a YouTube video.

Flat, under the floor pan of the passenger compartment with a high seating position like a modern SUV.
You'd need a special gearbox (or chain drive) to do it but it could work.
Would probably suck but it'd work.

Re: Include Radial Engine

The only reason for radial engines to exist; they are short, and they get the same cooling air flow over all cylinders. Therefore the only place they can be used with success is in aeroplanes.

Re: Include Radial Engine

Googling around, it's a thing that has been done, but it's incredibly rare and outside of hobbyists I've only seen one example post-1940, and that was a race car that never raced. Might be a good DLC, but probably not worth the trouble for the base game.

While I love the idea of trying to cram a radial engine inside a car, the main automation dev team consists of three people. Making a new engine type which has been used by a few hobbyists and one failed race car would be just too much more work for the already rather stretched dev team when they could spend that time on other more common engine types.

Re: Include Radial Engine

Especially if they can configure the engine designer to allow mods that introduce new engine types.
