Re: B1414+ Bug Reporting Thread

Not sure if it is already reported, but the MR2-like body crashes the game whenevr you put a wing on it and scale that wing, reaching the limits of where it should turn red.

Tried that 4 times now and 4 CTDs.

I'd think once it happens twice, you'd understand it's a bug :D . It’s often said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result :P .

I tried it 4 times in different ways to see if it crashes at the same points. Basically, it's not, but when it reaches the scaling limit it does, apparently. The line between insanity and proper testing is a thin line.

Yeah, this happened to me, too, after I had to re-install the game(though I forgot to delete the Automation folder beforehand).

Re: B1414+ Bug Reporting Thread

I experienced an issue with my mini-truck where some fixtures like exhausts and some lights showed some weird behavior and I think I found the problem.

It seems like the game has issues finding which side of a surface is outside of the car when the surface is perfectly perpendicular to the Z-axis, and tends to stamp some fixtures inside out.

Examples:

Fixtures appear like this if placed directly on those surfaces. When placed on curved surfaces or on edges, they appear fine.
If you place the fixture on a curved surface and then drag it on the flat surface, this problem does not appear.

Also, in the case of the pre-wedge supercar, it only seems to have that issue with exhausts, but not with lights. For the minitruck it happens with some lights.

Re: B1414+ Bug Reporting Thread

While tinkering around with balances between turbos and NA engines, I noticed I was getting close to a 2 minute car around the AT test track, which doesn't happen that often.

However, the game has decided to display the time in a very interesting fashion...

That's right, I can get a time of 1:60.00, which is distinct from a displayed time of 2:00.00!

Re: B1414+ Bug Reporting Thread

Starting in fullscreen with 'Screen Space Ambient Occlusion' enabled causes the screen to just show white and the game 'freezes'. If I start the game in windowed mode it runs just fine. I tried at every resolution mode available and get the same thing anytime I have 'Screen Space Ambient Occlusion' enabled and Fullscreen.

My system info:

Windows 7 Ultimate x64
AMD Athlon x4 860K
32GB DDR3 2133
2x R9 280X in CrossFire

This should be good enough hardware to run 'Screen Space Ambient Occlusion' in fullscreen at any resolution and the fact that it runs fine at any resolution in windowed mode with 'Screen Space Ambient Occlusion' enabled seems to support that fact.

Re: B1414+ Bug Reporting Thread

The problem here isn't the specs or SSAO but actually the fullscreen mode.

It is a known bug and one that will only be fixed by switching the game engine. For the time being, you cannot switch tabs while running fullscreen mode. To avoid that, you can just use the windowed mode.

So I was messing around with some Turbochargers and one of my mechanics got stabbed by some piping while he was putting the intake on the engine. He got so mad that he threw the intake so hard it got stuck into the engine. And in the middle of that the thing below the intake piping is defying gravity. But seriously I don't know how this is happening. Also the attachment manager is saying a .png is an invalid file type. I don't know how I got this one on.
"The image file you tried to attach is invalid."

Re: B1414+ Bug Reporting Thread

I tried to stream my playing, but its impossible as Alt-Tab and Ctrl-Tab combinations wont work. Or they do work, but im unable to get back in the game after i go check my stream is online.

Please, fix that as everyone knows, Alt-Tab is very much used and needs to work properly when playing.

Re: B1414+ Bug Reporting Thread

Fullscreen doesn't work currently. Everyone knows it is important.

Use windowed mode for now, this will be solved when the game engine is changed.

Re: B1414+ Bug Reporting Thread

Engines with an absurdly low efficiency (in the 0.01% range) can produce game breakingly high economy figures. I have a Honda CRX with such an engine *with a non-zero reliability) getting around 1875mpgUK. Also, ifthis type of engine us udes with a car set up to have a top speed of 0.0mph, as I managed to do with the modded passenger van body, you can get an economy figure of infinite mpgUK.

If you want I can attach the engine and cars that do this

*edit*
I can also get 'nan' mpg and -0.0mpg with various car setups using a very low powered engine with sensible economy. This happens when the car's top speed is 0.0mph

*2nd edit*
I think you already know this one, but attempting to run a car on the track with a top speed of 0 gives a lua error which forces the game to close. presumably this will be the same for any car not powerful enough to climb any of the hills

Re: B1414+ Bug Reporting Thread

If you add a very large rim offset to quite narrow tyres you get a visual bug where the rim of the tyre does not touch the spokes of the rim. The screenshot is quite an extreme example to make it easier to see, but it happens with less silly tyre settings:

Image

*edit*
another small bug. if you have a very low powered heavy with a relatively long first gear, taking it to the track makes for an interesting start. The RPM dial goes crazy during the time it tries to get to an RPM with enough power to pull the car, which makes for some interesting noises from the engine.

Try this car round the top gear test track to see what I mean:

This happens when I try to put a gearbox in my car, afterwards the game crashes. Not so much fun. The Engine Designer works just fine...
