Race One: Suzuka

Hello guys!

Here are the results for the first race. No stats this time, I am too tired to add them just now :P

Next race will happen someday between today and tuesday, depending on ISP schedule to install wi-fi on the new flat. Along with it, I'll release the power, weight and power to weight graphs.

Not bad, a decent result for the build. However it is impossible to predict how the rest of the tournament will go!

Re: Automation Touring Car Championship 2 [FIRST RACE RESULT

Well, in the last ATCC my car finished the challenge with 0 points, now i've just got 10 points in the first race... That's a nice improvement! :D

geeze....this is not encouraging.

But I guess, this is the first race, I suppose we'll see how other races will go. Although given this first race, I'm not feeling confident for the rest of the season, but again, we'll see.

Re: Automation Touring Car Championship 2 [FIRST RACE RESULT

Well, seems like I did, in fact, do better than middle of the pack.

Lets hope it stays like this, but I think my car might get wrecked by strop and others on the bumpier tracks.

Re: Automation Touring Car Championship 2 [FIRST RACE RESULT

Well, if that is any indication of your car's setup, then what I do know is that Suzuka does reward a modicum of tameness but still favours high powered setups. It was the natural limitations of my chosen drivetrain that compelled me to try for a tamer build, as I knew I wouldn't be able to compete for all-out power. The particular tracks where this will be important would probably be Brands Hatch, Ludwigschafenring, and BRC Stage 2 (which is ultra brutal). However, Bahrain, Silverstone and Laguna Seca seem to me to be even more favourable to high power builds than Suzuka, but we'll see! Hockenheimring Short is surprisingly fast for such a short track, so I don't know how to interpret that one just yet.

Re: Automation Touring Car Championship 2 [FIRST RACE RESULT

Yeah, the 4WD helps keep the tameness under control. IMHO, with the power values achievable in this challenge 4WD is a very good idea. With my engine and RWD, the car is burning its tires well into 3rd gear. And since there is a minimum weight, the only big problem 4WD has is the price, which is fairly cheap compared to the +11 quality sliders I am running on the Turbo and Head.

As for BRC Stage 2, I built a 450hp V8, put it in my car and it was a few seconds faster, so I wouldn't be surprised if I get completely wrecked there.

Re: Automation Touring Car Championship 2 [FIRST RACE RESULT

It'll be just like what happened to me in ATCC 1! but your car is definitely fast, so I would still expect it to finish well ahead of middle of the pack.
