Re: OG thread

Lets just await the marketing machine and prepare ourselves for the zombie invasion.
I personally think we can expect atleast 2000 newcomers over the first month after Steam launch.

Re: OG thread

Glad to hear the Devs aren't supportive of this. I can understand the desire to keep things familiar and cozy, but I think it would only exacerbate poor behavior from newcomers. As a lurker it wouldn't affect me much, but I just couldn't see a subforum helping the community in any way.

Re: OG thread

I actually think creating a "Newbie" forum would be a good idea. New users can post intros and ask questions there for the first X days or until they have X posts, then they will be allowed to post on the entire "public" forum. This deters trolls from invading, and also cuts down on spammers, as they don't generally stick around long enough to post with this restriction. It used to be relatively common practice for message boards. On the Cobalt forum I moderate, we also have a "Premium" forum which allows paying supporters to have their own special place to talk. Segregation is a bad idea, but probationary periods are not.

Re: OG thread

07cobaltgirl really like that idea.

Trolling has already reached automation hub, if you looked at peoples 'ratings' yesterday and compared them to today somebody has been dishing out 1 star ratings like its their day job...

Re: OG thread

I don't see the point in cheating on something like this. like who actually wastes that much time for a few ratings just doesn't make sense...

Re: OG thread

For most, the point in cheating is ego inflation. People do it to make themselves feel and/or look better, despite what the actual result will be if caught cheating. Others do it simply because they can. They get a kick out of "beating the system" and also have no regard for the actual result if caught. There will always be cheaters, and practically everybody cheats at "something", even if it is insignificant. Driving 5mph over the speed limit is still cheating, even if most cops won't punish you for it. It just is what it is.
