Re: Car Reviewing

2ND BIG MULTIPLE CAR COMPARISON TEST: HOT HATCHBACKS

Yes, the first one has just been completed, but work needs to begin on the new one as soon as possible. So as you can see this is a comparison of hot hatchbacks, something that has been requested quite a bit. There will be information about the twin-test I mentioned before at a later date.

The hot hatchbacks have to meet some restrictions
    - Year: 2015
    - Maximum total production costs: $11,000
    - Maximum engine capacity: 2000cc (N/A or turbo)
    - Drivetrain: Front-engined, FWD
    - Maximum emissions: 120
    - Quality sliders: Allowed, no more than 3, positive or negative
    - No lips/wings on the front of the car (breaks most pedestrian safety regulations around the world)
    - Your car MUST be posted on AutomationHub

Get those entries in then! Also, those who have had a car in the car comparison before must remember that they can't always have their car in then. I will let you (and you know who you are, obviously) this time, but if you have your car in this time as well, I will not allow you in the next. Hope you understand

That is all for now, thanks a bunch :)

Re: Car Reviewing

I am perfectly happy to allow all the mods. If I don't have it, the error shall tell me. I have 95% of all the parts anyway, so there shouldn't be any issues :)

If, however, you use a private mod part, send it with the car.

Re: Car Reviewing

Question: is it required to post the stats pic on AutomationHub as is normal procedure? Or can that be nixed until the entries are closed?

Re: Car Reviewing

Quality limit is for whole car or per slider? For downforce only limitation is front lips? I can use under-tray, wings and lips in back I guess? No limitations on bodies? I mean I guess it's hot-hatch competition but then I'm not sure if the micro-van/mpv/whatever it's called qualifies, going even further would any body be ok as long as the car is FF?

This is for any slider. You can use all of them, as long as the values remain between +3 and -3

Janekk wrote:For downforce only limitation is front lips? I can use under-tray, wings and lips in back I guess?

No lips on the front is the only aero limitation. WIngs and lips are allowed on the back, and all the undertrays are fine.

As long as it is a hatchback (where the boot/trunk opens like a hatch) it is fine. That means, like in the small car comparison, the mini-MPV body is allowed. Coupes and sedans are not allowed, even if FF.

Re: Car Reviewing

As there is no 2015 hatch body, is it ok to use an existing hatch body and set the year to the relevant year so we don't get the safety penalty? Nice work on the big test writeup! I haven't read it in full, but it is clear a lot of time has gone into it!

Re: Car Reviewing

No, that's cheating! :P

Everybody will be using the body, so everybody will get the safety penalty, which is completely irrelevant because I don't bear it in mind when calculating the safety score anyway. So it isn't a problem if you do or don't really, because it makes absolutely no difference.

Re: Car Reviewing

What about putting wings on the front? I guess a blade that slices pedestrians in half will actually get commended for making the suffering shorter?

Re: Car Reviewing

Haha, if only :P

No. Wings at the front would be even more bizzare than lips, which is why I didn't post it, assuming that nobody would think about putting wings on the front of their cars simply for the purpose of chopping pedestrians in half!

Re: Car Reviewing

I'm entering this one, with the all-new 2015 Proxima 1.5 PS, currently in design phase, in a few hours it'll be done

EDIT: Realized the RE was way too extreme and expensive, so i changed it to a PS model, not super fast but offers a nice mix of performance and practicality.

This small car comparison looks super mint, excellent comments, excellent editing. You guys sure outdid yourselves on this one! Well worth the wait.

Re: Car Reviewing

I am pleased with the Prato Zoope (City Ed.) review in the small car comparison. The Zoope is the fasterst with the most POWWAAA!

As for getting 8th place, for only having automation for a couple weeks at that point I am not disappointed and have since learned a thing or two from the review and from entering competitions since then. I can wait for the next big comparison. PMC will be ready!
