Hello,

Nice to be part of the forums. Looks like you have a fun place here.

Name: Scott Kolleck

Occupation: PC Technician and Programmer. (90% tech/10% programmer)

Location: South Dakota, USA - specifically Elk Point. I am the only person I went to school with that can say they open the front door and overlook an American Buffalo (Bison) ranch.

Interests: Games, Programming, Vehicles, WWII Stuff (copied from "Zuessy" profile, since it fits me too!)

Vehicles Currently Owned: 2000 Dodge Intrepid R/T - Red with sunroof - only 212 made! Love that car!

Dream Garage Vehicles: Too many to list. I would love a steamer/boiler car.

Previous Vehicles of Interest: Too many. I do like the Prius, I drove one for 1,300 miles in eight days... Yes, it is a long story.

How did you find us? Well, we are us, but how did u find us? Google, facebook, wikipedia etc? Wikipedia article about Car Tycoon.

About:
I have been a programmer for 31 years and a tech almost as long. Back then you had to be your own tech. I was 12 when I started programming fractal videos on an Atari 400 (with a whopping 4kb of ram and the optional cassette tape deck to store your programs! Top of the line circa 1980! My current non-smartphone has more in it!)

Re: Introductions

Name: Let's leave it as Commanderraf

Occupation: Uh... you could say University Professor.

Location: Mexico City

Interests: Videogames, computers, cars and Japanese culture.

Vehicles Currently Owned: A 1969 Volkswagen Type 1.

Dream Garage Vehicles: A vintage Volkswagen collection (Type 2, Karmann Ghia), a Subaru 360 and a Peel P50... Yes, I like small cars.

Previous Vehicles of Interest: Hm.. None really. I've been obsessed with Volkswagen since I was a little kid.

How did you find us? Wikipedia link on the page of "Car Tycoon". How did I find that page? By searching in Google for a tycoon game but about cars. I know... amazing!

About:

Since I was a little kid -back in the late 80's- I've been obsessed with my familiy's 1969 Volkswagen Type 1 (or Beetle if you want to call it that way, but NEVER call it a Bug). That car was bought by my grandmother, later inherited to my mum. Back then I used to tell my granny that I would grow up to become a Volkswagen mechanic and give her free service on her car.

Although the car obsession never went fully away, later in videogames and computers became a bigger interest for me. It was -funnyly enough- when I bought Gran Turismo 4 for the PS2 when I rediscovered my love for cars in general and the Volkswagen of my family.

I am now a graduate on International Relations -yup, most Latin American Universities and some European ones (the ones who follow the French school of Sociology) consider us as an independent discipline from Political science or Sociology- who specialized in Japan but still play videogames and, after 20 years of yearning for it, finally the official owner of the same Volkswagen Type 1 I've loved since I was a kid.

I have high hopes for this project and by the looks of it, it will fulfill them. Although I recently found out about it, I would like to help the team developing Automation in anyway I can.

Re: Introductions

Wow, didn't think this many people were already on the forums. Seems I've underestimated this production from the rockethub page I visited. Great to see so many enthousiasts around.

So first off, hello to you all.

Name: Daniël J. "Avren" den Heijer

Occupation: Purchacing & stock control

Location: Vianen, The Netherlands

Interests: Music (listening, singing, guitar), Boardgames, videogames, reading

Vehicles Currently Owned: Fiat Cinquecento S (1996)

Dream Garage Vehicles: Toyota Celica, Tesla Roadster

Previous Vehicles of Interest: a bike(?)

How did you find us?: Rockethub page

About:

I like strange facts, strange arts and strange games. Although automation is probably not "strange" in the usual sense, it's a bit niche. That's what piqued my interest in the first place.
Just got the rockethub pre-order email today, suddenly I'm excided enough to do something I usually don't... make a forum post.
I probably won't post much, but I'll be sure to check the forums every once in a while.

Vehicles Currently Owned: Renault Laguna 'Sport' Tourer, 1.8 16v (2001)

Dream Garage Vehicles: BMW 535d, Nissan GT-R

How did you find us?: Youtubing for videos of Car Tycoon so I could remember how abysmal it was (It never quite worked right for me, felt like a game they hadn't finished yet.)

About: I'm obsessed with the concept of 'DIY' car production - I'm teaching myself how to use Solidworks at the moment, got some big plans for a hydrostatic drivetrain and the potential of smaller capacity 2-stroke diesel engines, think steel sprung suspension is lame... Anyway, getting back to the topic in hand, I always wanted a game like Car Tycoon that let me play at a far more intricate level, so I can't wait 'til I can get my preorder in for Automation!

Did a youtube search to see if anything new was about in car design games as the older ones were pretty crap.

Cheers

How did you find us? A thread on the Forza forums. It had a link to the site and a couple of videos posted. I watched the videos, went to the site and ended up spending way too much time looking at all the info/videos/suggestions etc. I'll just say I love the idea behind this and where it's headed, since I've been wanting a game like this for far too long.

Name: Fawlters. Not that I'm paranoid, but unless I already know you, you don't get my real name.

Occupation: Design Engineer, mostly marine/offshore but anything goes

Location: "The North" (of England)

Interests: Games, Cars, Technology, Neat stuff, Cool stuff, Interesting stuff...

Vehicles Currently Owned: None, but oh so many plans....

Dream Garage Vehicles: Constantly changing, almost certainly custom or at least modified. Most likely from part of the VAG group.

Previous Vehicles of Interest: Ford Focus, served me faithfully for about a month until it found a ditch by my hand... It lived on, but I was walking distance from work then.

How did you find us? I don't remember... I'm assuming it was Google.

About: I like cars, and driving them when I can, but after my trip to the ditch I can't really say I trust myself any more. Possibly due to excessive time spent on Gran Turismo 2/4 I have lost pretty much all fear of doing crazy things with cars, which is another reason I don't trust myself.

I have plans for HPVs (glorified pedal cars) and kit cars, but they will be in the future sometime when I have more money. Lots of ideas for lots of things in general.

I believe I, or anyone else, can do anything. All that is necessary is time and practice. I also believe I need more sleep. Night all!
