Re: Solstice Motors

After looking at the sales for the 2014 Fleetwood, we were shocked. Sales had fallen dramatically since the '07 model was dropped and we plan to fix all of that.
Introducing, the 6th generation Solstice Fleetwood 5.0 Concept.
Image

The Fleetwood is a very odd car, if you think about it. It is produced by a British company, but it resembles the likes of the Chevrolet Corvette and the SRT Viper and it sports a rather overpowered, muscular V8, and we want to change that.
This year, almost everything was revamped; from the gauge cluster all the way up to the fuel system feeding that screaming 5 litre, flatplane, twin turbo V8.

Exterior changes:
The exterior changes are mostly obvious. The old(?), ugly individual headlights have been replaced by a set of modern (or futuristic) xenon headlights, and the tail lights have received a similar treatment. The very old indicator design on the front quarterpanels is finally gone and has been replaced by a new set of LEDs. Also, Momo were kind enough to supply us with a bunch of these sweet looking, 19" matte black Quantum rims (the cars you see here are the only versions of this car to exist currently. One black, one white).

Interior changes:
The old analogue gauge clusters have been replaced by a brand new single display mounted behind the steering wheel to really complete the race car feel. It informs the driver of everything from revs to G's. All 4 seats have been replaced by ultra lightweight and ultra comfortable Recaro racing seats. The car features no infotainment system and no radio, so you're basically left with the yellow glow from the display, the bittersweet sound of that flatplane V8 (which you can't really hear until about 4500 RPM) and plenty of carbon trim to look at. And if all that isn't enough to remind you of what you're driving...

Engine & transmission changes:
Both of the old engines are gone. The car now comes standard with an all new 5 litre flatplane V8 that sports a pair of rather expensive turbos, it delivers a pretty impressive 593 hp @ 6500 RPM & 563 ft-lb @ 3200 RPM and it will scream all the way up to 7500 RPM. Thanks to its new VVL system, the turbos kick in fairly quickly and before you know it that Ferrari 458 in the other lane is eating your dust (I mean, not that we encourage street racing...).
The new 5.0 features a twin multi-point EFI system, something that has never before been implemented on any other engine from Solstice. Thanks to this, the car now manages a pretty decent 21.2 MPG (UK).
Another new thing that this car features is a 7 speed, dual clutch flappy paddle gearbox and an all new AWD system which can be toggled on and off. The car had only ever been using manual transmissions before this and we believe that this new transmission will not only increase performance in all aspects, but it should increase our sales by a significant amount. The car comes with 2 modes, comfort mode and sport mode. Comfort mode will make the exhaust quieter and loosen up the steering and limit the power to around 350 horsepower, whereas sport mode will activate the exhaust bypass valves and will make your steering tighter and will unleash all 593 horses.

General info & Chassis info:
Image
As you can see, this car has a limited theoretical top speed of 181 MPH, and while it isn't a full blown track car, it does put out a fairly decent time on the Airfield track, and it will finally give those bastards at Aeroline a run for their money!
The new car is expected to cost a wee bit more than the old 2014 model. It will set you back a good $90000, which is considerably more than the 2014 Corvette C7, but then again it does take you from 0 - 62 in almost a full second faster and it does have a pair of twin turbos.
The car also comes standard with an array of driver assists, to help the less experienced drivers among us.
A couple of things that the car retains from the old models, is the glued aluminium chassis material and the carbon fiber panels. It also has the exact same front double wishbone and rear multilink setup from the old models and it still features 6 piston brakes, however they are now 305MM in the front and 260MM in the rear. It also features a new set of 295/40R19 front tyres and a new set of 385/30R19 rear tyres, they are all sports compound, as this car is fully road legal.

Curious, which part in particular? Is it the colours? The vents?

Re: Solstice Motors

Obviously the wheels make a huge impact, great job on that! The overall proportions are also fantastic, and the double wing is just properly gorgeous. Other than that, the black works very well, and the vents are very well placed.

Re: Solstice Motors

:D Thanks alot, your feedback is very much appreciated.
If I could have, I would've included red brake calipers and such but that would require a significant amount of work.

Re: Solstice Motors

Nah, I think that if you had done brakes, matte black calipers would have been great.

Re: Solstice Motors

My god that is sick.... I am totally blown away by this Fleetwood concept. I mean the Mongoose is fun and all, but this is like a real car, lmao. Awesome job Microwave. How can you top that?

Also I lol'd at the call out. I mean Mongoose is designed to run Airfield, but if we took our cars to another track like say Nurburgring or something it'd be a complete toss up. Total competitors our two sports cars are, and I love it. Heading back to the drawing board once again like any other threatened car manufacturer....
