Re: Economy Racers

Because we've lost our minds here at Centauri here is our entry, some of you might recognize the body as the same used on the BSLL Vindicator, why mess with perfection? the only exterior change is painting it to better suit it's new goal. I give you... the GREEN MONSTER! now scroll down and see that, yes that is a massive v8 wedged into it, almost as big as the 9.7 in the vindicator!

How did you make an engine that large an eco-freak? Surely it uses more than 5.88L/100Km... :o

Madness, this'll egg on Strop to make an engine bigger, more frugal AND making more power just to prove it's doable,

]With a cam of under 30,low compression, low friction pistons, DI and a reallllly lean mix. I'm not gonna say my horsepower, but I will boast about the 616lbft of torque.

Scary. If you don't win the comp, at least you could use the engine for a generator or a powerboat! :P

Re: Economy Racers

I doubt I'll win, I'm not good at tuning a sporty car, plus this is way overpowered, strop's acceleration times were on par with my car and I'm sure his will handle better, front wheel drive and everything. I just built it because I could, my answer to most in game challenges is "insert massive v8"

Re: Economy Racers

Oh god guys you tempt me so badly. But I still want to enter the Mushu, because it's an FF ultralight hatch and I want to see how it will do compared to the superior drivetrains.

On the other hand, I wonder if I could retune the Mephisto to return that kind of economy... that'd be hilarious, but a bitch to budget for. EDIT: Nah, screw that. Way too many changes to get the required mileage. That engine just isn't built for efficiency LOL

EDIT: Okay, here's the updated Mushu. With almost exactly the same power and weight as before, but with an approach that now squeezes even more out of the engine and improved aero (read: engine now runs hot), It will go around the track significantly faster than before, despite running on 91RON as opposed to the previous 100RON. It keeps an emissions rating of 29, and now gets a new and improved 40.1mpg

After de-tuning the motor, Ardent's engineers are pleased. A loss of only 7 HP and 2 MPG.

And MOAR SPEED.

Re: Economy Racers

Part of me is going to hate to lose because I've poked a sleeping stallion with a 9+liter v8 stick, but another part of me giggles with anticipation, because every time I've poked or been poked on something like this it has ended with totally kick ass racing.

Re: Economy Racers

Naturally I was curious, but it took me all of 10 minutes to build an older MR car that qualifies. It totally blitzes my Mushu's time around the track, and that's not even trying to tune it at all.

I have no regrets, because FF retro grannymobile lol. It's like taking a Fiat 500 and going a few steps way past Abarth.

Here's another photoshop I cooked up of the Mushu about to follow through the Follow Through. I was stoked to discover that Google had actually snapped the Top Gear test track. Even funnier is that if I turn the camera around, you can see the Stig driving an SLS AMG
