Re: Your fictional cars show

I already have my entire fleet planned out. ;) This plan will have to be phased in over time as technology allows, but this is my targeted end goal.

I plan on four basic DOHC engines utilizing the same bore and stroke to reduce theoretical tooling costs and ease the tuning process. I'm thinking of using an undersquare configuration of a 76.5 mm bore and 87 mm stroke, which should give me a piston velocity of just under 4000 feet per second at 7000 rpm. I might revise that if the valve area proves too small, however. Eventually each engine will come in a naturally apirated, low pressure turbo, and high pressure turbo configuration with a final target of 75, 100, and 125 horsepower per liter, respectively. That will give me the following to play with:

1.6 I4 with 120, 160, and 200 hp
2.4 I6 with 180, 240, and 300 hp
3.2 V8 with 240, 320, and 400 hp
4.8 V12 with 360, 480, and 600 hp

The entry model will a small RWD hatchback based on the Toyota AE86. It will be offered with all three I4 configurations and have a target weight of 2500 to 2600 lbs.

Next up will be a compact RWD sedan based on the BMW E30/E36. It will be offered with all three I6 configurations and have a target weight of 3000 to 3200 lbs.

Above that will be a midsized RWD sedan based on the BMW E34/E39. It will be offered with all three V8 configurations and have a target weight of 3500 to 3800 lbs.

The big cheese will be a full size RWD sedan based on the BMW E38 and Mercedes Benz W140. It will be offered with all three V12 configurations and have a target weight of 4000 to 4400 lbs.

There will be a front engined RWD sports car based on the C6 Corvette. It will be offered only with the high pressure turbo V8 and have a target weight of 3000 to 3200 lbs.

Finally, there will be an exotic carbon fiber mid engined RWD supercar. It will be offered only with the high pressure turbo V12 and have a target weight of 3000 to 3200 lbs.

Hopefully this is a workable business plan, I'd hate to go bankrupt because I didn't offer enough SUVs and FWD crapboxes!

Re: Your fictional cars show

Nice, I've been planning out my fleet as well, stuck in the 80s and early 90s as far as designs go. I finished 1 model family (late 70s-late 80s HB) and 1 engine family (OHV and SOHC 4s to go with the hb). But I think that would be too much to post.

1st one I finished. I came up with the performance numbers in a game.

Image
Chassis
------------
Weight: 3040 lbs
Wheelbase: 104 in
Drag: 0.30
Weight Distrubition: 52/48
Wheel Size: F:16x8.5 R:16x9.0
Tire Size: F:215/50/16 R:245/50/16
Drivetrain: RWD
------------
Engine
------------
2.7 (2650cc) Liter Turbocharged V6
238 hp @ 6300 rpm
220 lb-ft @ 4900 rpm
-------------
Performance Specifications
-------------
0-60: 5.50
0-100: 14.00
1/4 Mile: 14.00 @ 100.2 mph
Top Speed: 160 mph

I think it'll be interesting to see how close I can get to replicating it on Automation, both specs and body style.
