How to trasnfer normal key to Steam Key?

Call me old fashioned, but I need some help on figuring out how to transfer my normal access code to a Steam code. I do have a Steam account but I rarely use it, but I do want to switch to the Steam platform in case the old launch system is deleted.

Can anyone give me a step-by-step guide on how to switch codes? Thank you and sorry for being completely incompetent with Steam

Automation isn't yet available on steam, once that is done, you'll have clear instructions on how to get your key.
