I don't have Excel myself and cannot test if the file is not working there. Could you give it a try in OpenOffice?

I would recommend just making a copy of the spreadsheet within Google Drive for private use, that way nothing disappears and you can be sure it's the same :)

Re: CTC - Car Tycoon Challenge #3 [BUILD]

I downloaded OpenOffice (grumble grumble) and it worked.

You'll have to pardon me. I'm real old school when it comes to computers. Sometimes I get stuck in the DOS days. Clouds bring rain, not filesharing, in my world. :P With that all behind me, I introduce..

... The 2003 Ardent Huron Limited. Powered by Ardent's venerable Orion series motor, in this case the OA6-J.

Happy designing, all... May the results be ever in your favor (unless they're in mine, in which case... yeah me!)

Good idea! You can find an uneditable version here, which you can download in your preferred file format.

Here is my entry, a try to get some sales in the MS, TD and maybe some in the SC market.

In the spirit of the to-be-entrant to the market in the coming years, the Gumpert Apollo, here is the pre-emptive salvo, a >1000hp fire breathing balls-to-the-wall trackday special that might lure some supercar punters (if they pined for the bonkers supercars of the 90s over being glamorous or even comfortable, that is):

Will it run my company broke, or will it make enough for us to continue developing faster, better projects??? Only time will tell.

My car is looking less and less like a hot-hatch, actually currently it's one of the lowest scoring groups even though it's got quite nice sporty engine. I must have made it too comfortable  .

I don't even know if I'm going to compete. I raged so hard on the last one that it took away all the joy I had from playing and in the end I felt the community thought I was a sore loser douche-bag.

If you don't compete anymore you are, yes. ;)

Criticism is good, it makes me think about the challenge mechanics again. But it's all about how you tell it. You are very welcome to participate again, I usually like your somewhat uncommon approaches. Just don't take the challenge too seriously. There are some "luck elements" in the challenge, so I can understand that you may think you wasted your time if you spent 10 hours on a car and don't succeed. The challenge was never meant to give the people with more time a huge advantage. That's why the challenge works how it is. And I think people do appreciate it because for other challenges you need much more time to be successful than for the CTC. The number of participants shows that the approach is not too wrong in my opinion.

Re: CTC - Car Tycoon Challenge #3 [BUILD]

Petokraka Automobiles submitted the Khusus, the sporty yet somewhat comfortable sedan. The car itself is around 90% identical to the Khusus of 2006 (not released yet in my company's thread) but some changes were made for this challenge, such as setting the model year to 2003. The engine is basically an upgraded version of the inline six used in our 1999 Khusus xTreme. We changed some parts and altered the turbocharger a bit to get better performance. Everything is built according to the Petokraka Automobiles principles: no quality sliders, must be able to use 91 RON/regular quality fuel.

It has a top speed of 280 km/h and does 0-100km/h in 4,1 seconds with our SmoothGear BZA5 automatic transmission. Oh, and it has a weight of 1704,3 kg.

I always make a copy of the spreasheet and fill all the columns with several car models. That was 8 cars I made. I picked the hothatch one because it was the best looking. But I was even more mad when I found out that any other car of the ones I made would have been better. That is also why my cars are usually oddities. Because I wait until the last day to pick one that I think no-one will do. That approach totally flopped last time.

I'm actually building my first car 2003 car now.

Re: CTC - Car Tycoon Challenge #3 [BUILD]

I am running into a problem with my car.

I made an engine for it using the system that shows the colored arrows so I know it fits. Problem is the game keeps rounding the size of the engine UP to the next tick. And that next tick is just barely to big, yet it still loads the engine into the car and finishes the test anyway generating the stats. Is that going to be a problem?
