Still wrong.

Hint: It got a mid mounted gearbox, yet it isn't a transaxle.

All ye Americans are doing pretty badly here, even though this car is quintessentially American.

I was thinking about the FIAT 1400/1900, but the B pillar and the gearbox positions doesen't seems to properly fit to the car shown in the photo.

Yep. I was looking for a cabrio prototype of the FIAT, but it isn't.

Hint: The plan was shot down by several reason. One of them being that it was more advanced than the top of the range model by this company, despite being essentially a cheap runabout.
