Re: International Racing Championship

So, I have gotten my computer working properly and I am going to be preparing an engine for Camoria..

But I have some questions, namely the rules seem a little..Abstract, specifically, is 300kw the limit? If so, doesn't it seem a bit strange to even offer users to build engines if they're limited to the same amount?

I don't think so at all. Two engines might make the same maximum power, but one might have a far more usable powerband and/or weigh less, resulting in a faster car overall. I like that it forces participants to focus on making good, solid all-around engines instead of peaky, useless dyno queens, which frankly I find a bit boring. Not to mention, most top level race series have engine restrictors, so it's more realistic this way. All round I'd say the rules are very well written, can't wait to get back to my PC to take a crack at it.

I agree with every bit of my being.....

So far to me the best option is a mild mannered 32v V8.. something i tend not to build

Re: International Racing Championship

I actually wasn't implying monster engines, I was just curious why make the power rules so stringent. If it's about keeping the engines tame, why have a minimum power as well?

There were just some strange regulations, in my opinion. But regardless I have built an engine that fits all the rules and regulations, now all that's left is for Camoria to build a car around it.

I´ll think about the power regulation.
and as i said, the rules are kinda rough and not totally refined.

If you have ideas for the next season, feel free to pm me. Any input is welcome.

Re: International Racing Championship

So wheelbase 95-100" eliminates both of the modern mid-engined bodies?

AAAANNNNDDDDD, the old body gives a safety penalty.....

Also, I have a question about cooling. The body cannot have grilles/vents which produce over 600Kj/s at max setting, OR the cooling cannot be adjusted above 600kJ/s? Also, does Brake Airflow get included in the Cooling, or is it separate because they are different sliders?

All legal car bodies have the safety penalty. At least that´s what it says to me ingame.

The grilles and vents are not allowed to produce more than 600kj/s. And you have to cool your engine and your brakes with it, so yes, brake airflow it uncluded in the 600kj/s.

Re: International Racing Championship

So, to be clear, there are 5 points allowed for platform, 5 points for engine, and 5 points for trim. Additionally, the engine must produce between 295 and 300 kW. So not 294.9 and not 300.1? My car is completed, but I just want to make sure I have complied with the rules. I've ruled out any competitive OHV, as I simply cannot get 4000cc OHV which can produce 295-300kW. (I didn't try turbo, because I absolutely suck with turbos) Best I could manage was 280kW (long, short, or medium stroke). The only way I managed to get past that point would reduce economy lower than 15% because of the 5 point limit. :( I'm actually really bummed about it, since I like to run OHV engines.

New here, haven't gotten around to an intro or company thread yet, but I have submitted my entry. Hopefully I don't get beat too badly!
