YouTube Videos of Car Scenarios

I've decided to record my attempts at the car scenario's for uploading to YouTube, and figured I'd post the results here! Anyone else who has done the same is also welcome to post. Tameness is currently kicking my butt, so I haven't gotten better than a bronze in the 2 scenario's I've done so far. After I've gotten at least a bronze in each of the scenario's, I plan on going back to try and further increase my scores. I've found the car scenarios to be much more challenging than the engine scenario's were. If you're having a hard time completing a scenario, look here for help! If you can do a better job than me, please share your intellect!

Re: YouTube Videos of Car Scenarios

To get higher tameness: align the marker on the yaw rate graph with the blue line. There currently is a bug for mph settings that don't show the graph properly, so switching to km/h will help until the fix is coming. You can modify the oversteer-/understeer-behavior via wheel width and suspension settings.

Build 1408 - Scenarios - Cars - The Galileo - Bronze Medal

This is my second attempt at this one, but starting to learn a lot. Tameness was the tough stat for me here, but I finally got it high enough to finish! Thanks for the advice Killrob, I'll be sure to try it out on the third car scenario. My final score here was 1218, which netted me a bronze medal. Nothing too spectacular, for sure, but economy cars really aren't my specialty. :)

Re: YouTube Videos of Car Scenarios

This is very interesting to see btw. Spotting loads of bugs and seeing how people play is instructive :) What I noticed is that you some REALLY bad choices, which you tried to offset with lots of fine tuning instead of checking your general approach. Your suspension choice was very untame (just go for semi-trailing arm if you need something a bit more well handling but not sporty), making a sports engine with 80+hp for an eco city car is insane, ~20hp is more than enough. :D Revisit the scenario and change just these two things and you'll see how easy it would have been.

Thanks for sharing!

Build 1408 - Scenarios - Cars - Luxobarger - Bronze Medal

Thanks again for the advice! This video comes from last night as well, but I'll be sure to apply your advice to the third car scenario. Again, just a bronze medal, but when I've made an attempt on all the car scenarios I'll be back to make this a bit better.

Build 1408 - Scenarios - Cars - Brick Restoration - Silver

This was a fun scenario! More along my kind of car to build. And as such, I got my first silver medal!

Build 1408 - Scenarios - Cars - Rice and Curry - Silver

Another silver! This has been my least favorite scenario so far... a body style I'm just not into, at pitifully economical engine, high tameness (which thanks to Killrob I finally know how to do), FWD, automatic transmission... just yuck all around, lol. At least it was a fun challenge.

This is actually the third attempt I've made at this scenario. I got to bronze on my second attempt, on my tablet, which greatly accelerated the length of this video, since I started by copying over all my settings from the tablet, and then just worked towards getting my silver rating.

Build 1408 - Scenarios - Cars - Fahrzeugphobic - Silver

I probably could have easily gotten more points with an FWD layout, but making an RWD hatch was just too tempting. :) On the plus side, the RWD platform gave me plenty of room in the engine bay for that massive loping 2.8L I4 with a redline of 2900, 82 HP, 149 ft-ib torque, a reliability rating of 66 and 40.5 MPG. Doesn't run on diesel, doesn't smell like diesel, but all the same benefits of a diesel engine. Oh yeah, and the car is RWD. :D

Build 1408 - Scenarios - Cars - Weirön 1200BS - Gold Medal

My first gold medal! This video gives you an idea of the amount of effort that can go into earning the higher medals. Building the base car took me about 35 minutes, bronze medal took about 15 additional minutes, silver took another 15, and gold took an additional 25 minutes.

I made a design error early in the scenario by not widening the wheel wells as much as possible. I thought it looked a little funny, so I made them more shallow, but that made cooling much harder, and I probably could have gotten additional points with wider tires. To redo the body though, you must redo all the fixtures, and I didn't want to take the extra time for that.

In the end, I came out with a car with 1702 HP, 0-62 time of 2.4 seconds, a top speed of 283.4 MPH and an airfield track time of 79.31 seconds.

Build 1408 - Scenarios - Cars - Kazakh Freedom - Bronze Meda

I was only able to score a bronze medal on this one. I think the key to getting a higher score is a completely new engine, which I may go back and redo later. I tried to use a similar concept to the engine I made in the Fahrzeugphobic scenario, but it seems the efficiency just isn't good enough.

Build 1415 -Scenarios - Cars - Gentlemen's Disagreement - Si

This is another scenario that I first completed at the bronze level on my Surface Pro 2, then I did a little extra tweaking to get the silver medal. Could have done more, but my game time has been limited, and spread thin across many different things I'd like to do, so I left the gold medal for a later date.

Build 1415 - Scenarios - Cars - iCar - Bronze

This completes my first try on all the car scenario's! This one seems to have a bug in it, I needed to score 1000 for the bronze medal, but even after 1100 points, the game still hadn't awarded me the bronze metal. Anyway, I got enough points for it, so I'm claiming it anyway! I think I need wider arches to gain some points in sportiness, but didn't feel like redoing the body... maybe I'll try that next time around.

Re: YouTube Videos of Car Scenarios

I'd do some videos playing through the scenarios, but there's 67 engine scenarios to balance in the beta, so doing more scenarios just for fun isn't a good idea for me right now. :P

I was considering doing another topic like this for the engine scenarios as well, but you're right, there's tons of them. I've done them over quite a few times just for the fun of it, but usually on my tablet away from home, so I'm not recording it. I'm not really motivated enough to do them yet again at home just to record them for youtube. Not yet at least.

These last two car scenario's were actually done on my tablet over a week ago... I just hadn't had time to record the build on my home PC.
