We just had a little dev meeeting to discuss the current state of the open beta and what things to fix next.
The most important issues we want to address / fix at the start of the next week are:Cheers!
- Fix sandbox flow, unlock engine year, as well as default it to the platform year
- Sort the car body list by year
- Make available all car bodies once past their unlock year
- Stop base safety progression of car bodies 10 years after their unlock year
- Fix freezing bug for <1945
/Killrob
I'm really looking forward to see this fixes and changes coming. You're doing fantastic works devs!!
Currently, I enjoy my first Mid-mounted car making & tuning.

also, I like the way exhaust setting affects power output and torque characteristics more greatly than previous versions. It's more fun to consider proper exhaust tuning than before.
Finally, the new UI isn't my problem and I think it looks cool!

I miss the type of gearbox you find in Porsche Cayman (from Audi A4-A6 FWD diesel), can only fit a 1.7l i6 with awd in the large mid engine car body.

Well, Porsches technically aren't MR/M4, they're RR/R4. Meaning that the engine can sit on the axle or behind, giving more space, although I agree that the current MR shells really don't have a lot of space. As for longitudinal FWD: it's a pretty rare layout, nearly always transverse is used for it, although I think Audi was developing a Longitudinal FWD gearbox for more sporty cars. But yeah, maybe they need a bit more space. In this version everything feels so cramped.

Well okay, but an inline 6 isn't the best choice to run with limited length in the engine bay, the Cayman uses a flat 6 (of up to 3,4l), which means only 3 cylinders in the length, instead of 6, although very wide, allowing for bigger cylinders. I think this is the major explanation why they can run relatively big engine sizes.

12 cm shorter wheelbase, 3.5l big straight six. Same style of gearbox as Audi A6 FWD and thereby Porsche Cayman.
The gearbox used in Automation Mid longitudinal bodys, i have never seen such layout. Reference pics someone?

Same thing as always: while there were some early examples, it wasn't really common until mid-80s. Via research into the drivetrain you'll be able to get AWD earlier.

The Audi Quattro is from 1980, the problem is that in sanbox mode we don't get R&D so it renders impossible designs that would be entirely possible in that year.
