Re: Announcement: CTC - Car Tycoon Challenge

Will you be uploading the tools for us to estimate the tooling and R&D costs now that the open beta is available, or will you be waiting for the official release to do that?

Nah, I'll provide the links when I'm happy with how everything works. I'm not working on the challenge during this weekend, so don't expect anything too soon.

Question: how will reliability, environmental resist and fuel economy be incalculated if they are? Together with service costs as running costs?

Re: Announcement: CTC - Car Tycoon Challenge

Running costs will be a factor of the buyer's decision. Things like service cost, fuel consumption and price and reliability will come into play here. Reliability will add a part of the price tag of the car to the running costs (the more expensive a car is, the more expensive repairs are usually). The lower reliability is, the higher the running costs will be. The calculations will be clear once I give you the links to the price overview spreadsheet. There you can calculate engineering and tooling costs, see the production and running costs and set a price tag for your car. But as I said: Patience, I'll probably get the competition ready for the "real" release of the patch. :)

Apologies if I missed it somewhere, but can one person submit multiple cars?

Awesome! Don't fully understand how the algorithms and stuff work yet, but I'm looking forward to giving it a try! I assume since we only have the open beta so far, this competition has not started yet?

you can try to make cars that will fit the markets that have been posted because I don't think they will be changed, but without the spreadsheet that calculates the tooling cost it would be quite difficult to make anything meaningful. I assume Der Bayer will upload the spreadsheets once they are ready and once the update has been properly released, but I am happy to be proved wrong there

You won't be proved wrong :P

Yesterday I finished the sales calculations and now I'm working on making the presentation nicer, so I guess things are ready when the official patch is out.

Any way we could get a build year locked down? I'd like to start futzing around. :)
