Re: Open Beta Release 1408 (Updated 08.08.2014)

Remember guys, the game is in development. Thanks for the suggestion, I personally agree with you; however, we don't need to have another 10 posts on it  The devs will make their decision, trust them to make the right one.

What I would say is that I believe that it should be unlocked in sandbox/locked in career.

The reason it is locked is that using these modern bodies in the old days gives you a huge advantage in aerodynamics, and visa versa for modern day. Keep in mind, the work being done is first being tested in sandbox.

Re: Open Beta Release 1408 (Updated 08.08.2014)

I do believe that there has been too big of an update to make them work. Fuel system, unlocks, and many other things have been changed, and the body may not even be accessible in the year that you built it.

Actually, modern retro bodies will be separate ones, with thicker pillars, bulkier (and painted) bumpers. Today's livestream saw a not-Falcon body being modified to have a modern retro appearance.

Question: Do the calculations in the car manager account for drivetrain power loss?
I've gotten some ridiculously high top speeds with relatively weak cars. (280hp for 300+kph with a fully clad, 0-downforce undertray)

Hello! I am enjoying this patch. I just have a question. Once the game is loaded a screen pops up about things to expect in the final version, Personally I am mostly interested in the engine designing and i was wondering if everything in the engine section of the page will be added before the end of the beta? Thanks Killrob for getting this update to us!
Also could you do more videos with Conedodger? :D

Re: Open Beta Release 1408 (Updated 08.08.2014)

Man Hours made so much more sense, it made you think "This will take very long to make..." Prod. Units makes no sense to me. At all. I'd recommend changing that back or maybe trying "Production Time" or something maybe?

Still playing. Will give more feedback!

Definitely prefer the old UI as well, this is too... busy? Too much space being taken? by crazy huge back buttons and the gigantic bar at the bottom indicating "stages" you're at? Was easier to go back and tweak what you wanted with the top-down list from before. And being restricted by year for body styles? Ouch. I liked making the old style look modern.

The noise adjusting the body parts hurts quite a bit as well, it sounds rough. Especially when you're going back and forth making changes quickly. Don't want to sound like a whiner but having "less" seemed to be better. Disabling the animations would help but it's hard, very hard to adjust to the animations in the menu and feel slightly nauseous watching it after switching back and forth between the dyno and the other parts. And trying not to click on the wrong "department" entirely.

Please don't kill me. <3

How can we save a platform without being forced to put in an engine?

Ône thing about the UI which you maybe have not noticed yet (tastes can differ of course), you can now build a car and at any given time with one click go back to the engine and change it to whatever, this was not that easy before and it is just one example of how the new UI simplifies so much.

As for the sounds when morphing the cars, I agree, but sounds can be changed rather easily and it is still an improvement from the ones we had before.. :D

In the old design you could as well under "Choose Engine," then choose "New Engine." It would also give you the size constraints there as well in, my opinion of course, a less cluttered and better organized (By text, not picture label) tabs.

What does the ratio number serve to represent for gearing? How can we actually involve that in our builds? A relative number to specify how things are spaced?

No way to really differentiate front and rear sliders for downforce with the way it's arranged. That's a problem solved by experience, but not exactly "friendly." Easy, but confusing at start.

I believe the test track tire squeal may be slightly exaggerated. But awesome job on the braking sound!

For tweaking engines to perfection the new UI is complete bollocks. The amount of clicking has increased by a factor of 4 and my finger is already tired. I am all for having everything in a neat workflow, but there should be quick navigation buttons to get back to specific parts or something like that, it just gets way too tedious with all the clicking.

Err, there ARE quick navigation buttons across the bottom of the screen. In 1 - 2 clicks you can jump to anywhere in the car or engine design process.

I think the new UI is perfect, only, like others before me said, the morphing noises are too loud imho.
