Oh, ok.
Are the final results only going to be 1st, 2nd and 3rd?

Re: [Event in Progress] The Automation Endurance Challenge

Most of the files I recieved looks like this: Downloaded a WinRAR Zip file with all the files in it. Inside there is a folder for each class, for example: (GT1) (GT2) (Protoype) with three folders inside called: (Engine) (Model) (Platform). Some just sent me files, not explaining which files is the model file, which one is the platform file and whichone is the engine file. This might be the reason for why I can't get harizvet1's files to work (because I might have placed the min the wrong folders), but if not, then there still is a problem with some of the files.

Platforms are named like this: Exapmle Platform Rev 1.lua
Models are named like this: Example Model Rev1.lua
Engines are named like this: Example EngineRev1.lua

(I'm 90% sure :P)

I think thats correct, and I think thats how I placed the files aswell. I checked the log file after the game didn't start. It said:

Can't get VVT parts, if we don't have a head set

Re: [Event in Progress] The Automation Endurance Challenge

Is it a possibility that the files are from an older version of the game? Or just not saved properly?

Yup, that definitely looks like you've misplaced them.
Are you gonna delete all the files after this is done? You're gonna have a hell of a lot of new cars and engines.

Yes I am deleting them from my game folder (I saved all of them in a seperate folder before all entries were registered).
But it is easy: I simply add one engine, model and platform at the time. So basically I just add the files for one car at the time, launch the game, write down all information I need,
close the game, remove the files, add the next car, and so on. This might take some time to go through, but no mess in my game folders :)

Advanced safety in racing cars, you have to be kidding me right? When was the last time you saw airbags in a race car? The only thing they have is a rollcage and suitable safety belts. Hell, nowadays rollcages are even being replaced in prototypes by the carbon fibre monocoque having a strong enough roof to withstand rolling over.
Ok, besides for that rage, my apologies for putting all the categories in the same engine/platform/model folders, I thought it'd be easier like that since it only requires one extraction to get all 3 cars in your game.

You can do that, my untamed racing driver (that Dragawn has some rather appropriate concerns about, if you read his profile) has no sense of self preservation whatsoever :P

hans devices, the isolated driver cell designed into the monocoque, isolated double walled fuel cell, in some forms of racing there are separate front and read crumple zones. These are just the few I can think off hand, advanced safety doesn't have to just mean airbags. even the 24 hours of LeMons has a safety checklist that you have to install.

That is correct. Advanced safety isn't just airbags. When it comes to racing it can be different things.

Edit: But as I said: Don't worry about penalties, no one will get one, as the majority has chosen ''None'' at safety. It won't be fair to penalise the majority of the field for low safety when it wasn't a criteria for your cars.

Re: [Event in Progress] The Automation Endurance Challenge

They have special safety features yes, but most don't add significant weight, except for automated fire extinguishers, and maybe the material for the firewall, all have been enforced by the race organisations though, racing teams who voluntary install more are pretty rare, since it requires extra budget and these few extra kilos that can make the difference. As for crumple zones, I'm not sure where they're put in this game, automatically era correct chassis or indeed at the safety options. For a normal head-on collision I'd take a stock Volvo above a racecar any time of the day though, but racing cars indeed have more roll and fire protection, which is needed in their specific use.

I'm curious how to stimulate that for future series though, standard seems about right weight wise to me considering the rollcage, but racecars are more stripped out than any road car...

Re: [Event in Progress] The Automation Endurance Challenge

On the note of specific weights, in the coming release, I think you'll be able to see exactly how much weight each interior/safety/insulation component contributes to the car and how the quality and specification affects this, as well as production and material costs. It has also been rebalanced significantly... I was pleasantly surprised just how little the advanced safety really weighed, and it seems relatively commensurate! So in future challenges of this nature, I expect it will be easier to set limits and include safety protocols where required.
