Are you secretly a Mercedes engineer? :P

Haha, no. Although that is what my car uses! Probably bias.

Re: Weird habits ingame

I tend to use Inline 4 engines for the 1940's, for some reason. However, when the Inline 5 configuration comes out, I'll almost definitely be using that early-game, because one extra cylinder doesn't add a whole lot to engine costs, and they are generally better (My uncle owns a 5-banger H3 Hummer, if you'd believe it). I just generally like the look of an inline engine. Also, I almost always pick DAOHC for my V engines, if not OHV (PUSH THOSE RODS!), because DOHC looks kinda stupid (in my opinion. However, I'm canadian, so american rules don't apply! xD). I only pick OHV for my engines that are before 1960 and are in a V most of the time, but even then I usually pick DAOHC because pushrods don't work to well. I usually only use V engines from 1950 to 1970, unless I'm building a luxury car. I almost never use more than one carbbie on a V engine, because in my opinion it looks weird, because having a oval carbbie filter looks odd. FLAT ROUND CARBBIES FTW! xD

Sheesh, I'm complicated! xD

Re: Weird habits ingame

I also tend to go for RWD even in illogical situations like a teeny weeny city car.. though if I could I'd make my cars with streamlined looks (like tatra) and if I could i'd have a 4 door mid engine car like the mitsubishi I but larger and the style adjusted to the era (so please please Mr developers let us have the possibility of making unorthodox cars and a good amount of MR and RR platforms)

Also I'm a v8 junkie.. the crossplane type has a narcotic soundtrack, and the only one I like to have it unmuffled

I like putting about 50 lips and wings on each car :P

In more seriousness, I tend to completely ignore tameness. Tameness is that thing that incidentally happens when I'm trying to get a car to go faster around a track.

Re: Weird habits ingame

Double wishbone is the way of life....and advanced security, because why would you not want that ?

And I like my engines to be naturally aspirated, with as many valves as possible, and in case of an inline engine with carburettor, the DCOE just seems right

I would be honoured... as long as the likes of Walter Röhrl don't get up in my grille telling me that the car needs a traction control for the dry and a traction control for the wet LOL :P

Re: Weird habits ingame

I just noticed that I have a compulsive "TURBOCHARGE EVERYTHING". The V8 I'm working on now just seems so... boring without a set of turbos...Must. Resist. To. Boost.

Re: Weird habits ingame

Several.

I always put the exhaust tip the nearest to the centre of the car (Sorta like Alfa Romeo 75 and 70's-80's BMW). Since the first model possible in game right up to the latest.
I'll almost always put Macpherson Strut front suspension in any car, sans the most prestigious one (and sometime even the most prestigious one), made after 1955.
I almost always never use Double Wishbone rear suspension on any sort of car. (The only exception that came up in my head now was the BRC Rally Cars).
Mechanical Injection is a must when it's available. Which screwed me over in this new update.

Re: Weird habits ingame

I reject suspension types that arent wishbone, multilink or solid live axle, my cars may ne be cheap but sure they can move.. I also like to tune "underdog" engines. Ithink its a greater challenge even if the results are inferior it helps to develop a kind of resourcefulness an Indy car company may need.. (how AMC stuck around for so long? they were clever)

Re: Weird habits ingame

I've got a couple :
- I've got stange addictions with numbers (.5 incrementations in bore/stroke, 20 in brake sizes, 12.5 in colling capacity, avoiding 17/19/21" wheels)
- When I target an engine capacity, like 2.0L, I'll get the closest possible to it but still under 2000cc, and while keeping relative bore/stroke equality
- I like to carefully select a color for each car, and find a poetic name
- I always name my cars with its release date first, so I find one easily
- I always save a temp version on every change while adding fixtures
- I always use at least +1 quality, as I expect my company to keep at least 1 tech year in advance to the others
- I usually avoid turbos, as I'm not quite sure I set them up right and as they're heavy on the RON side
- Using even capacities or .5L (2.0, 2.2, 2.4, 2.5, 2.6, 2.8...)
- Documenting EVERYTHING, like 68-84 US headlamps regulations, side markings laws, etc. It HAS to be accurate !
- When setting a spot for licence plates, set it both high enough for US/Jap plates and wide enough for Euro ones, so we have a single bumper for most countries

I think that's all for now, I'll let you folks recover from my insanity :P
