Multiple fuel types

Hi there, I was just reading the news topic and while I was reading it I thought of a suggestion that I haven't read yet.

Which is:
Multiple fuel types! Wouldn't it be a fun challenge for the engine builder to make a (for example) diesel powered engine as sporty as an petrol/gas powered engine? Or to have bio-ethanol for eco-cars or/and supercars? (As bio-ethanol is a clean burning as well as a high power fuel)

And that a small high-revving petrol engine is better suitable for a compact citycar. As that a bigger turbodiesel is better in it's place in a big comfortable car. Because Diesel engines are usually much more torque-ier than petrol engines.

And perhaps some fuel sources like Hydrogen and Natural gas could be added later, as for the reason that those fuel sources are less advanced in today's world... But that is just a low priority suggestion.

For me, the different fuel sources would be a higher priority feature in the game, so you can challenge yourself to build high quality engines with all kinds of fuel.

It's just an idea so I'd like feedback of some kind.

Re: Multiple fuel types

Good suggestion but kinda flawed.

I can definitely see diesel and petrol being part of the normal line up but that as far as it goes. The other fuel mixtures I cannot completely agree with. In real life I have still yet to see ethanol, hydrogen, battery etc fuel sources go main stream. What I am trying to say or ask is this: If these other fuel types are not even mass adopted in real life yet, and the way these new technologies work at the moment are still vague in most people's minds, would the developers be able to capture the technologies that make them work, go correctly into this game?

I do believe when this game survives the test of time and lets say a few years when the new technologies are more "consumer mainstream", then an expansion pack, DLC or free download can be made with these new fuel sources and engines.

And that a small high-revving petrol engine is better suitable for a compact citycar. As that a bigger turbodiesel is better in it's place in a big comfortable car. Because Diesel engines are usually much more torque-ier than petrol engines.

Actually any engine that can create sufficient torque at low RPM is the best for city cars. High revving engines are good for track use but general day to day driving, u want the low down torque. I do see alot more low displacement turbo'd engines coming out lately. Turbo's are king of torque makers, coupled that with a small displacement engine and u get cars like the new VW Citycar that has insanely low fuel usage and good enough power for city commuting.

I think overall u have an idea here, maybe the dev's should have a look at it, but I am not so sure...

Re: Multiple fuel types

Diesel's have already been discussed and dev's have stated "Diesel - Unsure, will defiantly be in the game at some point, might not be at launch though." See topic viewtopic.php?f=15&t=137 for full list of current features and discussion on them. :)

Re: Multiple fuel types

Engine models for Diesels are tough, people with the 2.0 direct injected turbocharged ecotec from GM are waiting for a good Diesel simulator to come out because the engine makes so much low end torque because of the DI and VVT that normal gasoline engine models cant even come close to simulating it. Which may be a new thing for the Devs to keep in mind.

I think there is already support for ethanol (E), I remember seeing it in the latest video of the engine builder. Which is excellent, E is an amazing fuel for high performance engines. I wish I had E in my area, I would run so much more spark advance under boost.

Actually we have removed ethanol for the time being, it wasn't modeled as anything from a performance point of view. Just as some additional cost to components to make them 'ethanol proof'. It probably won't be in at launch.

Awe shucks. It does throw a wrench into most models because of the slower flame speed.

Re: Multiple fuel types

I would like to see support for E85 it is great for making power and is becoming readily available and a lot of newer vehicles are flex fuel ready. I would also like support for 114 octane race gas. The Buick makes 350 on premium unleaded and 450 on 114 so it definitely helps.I would also like to see support for oil cooled pistons, the SVO has them and it helps increase engine longevity.
