After Automation

Have the devs ever considered what they'll do after Automation is finished? I'm guessing they don't want to make the game and a couple DLCs and the go back to a regular job and put it down as a a happy memory.

If you do make another game, the only way I can think of that I wouldn't buy it is if it's a Barbie point and click adventure :D

Re: After Automation

I suspect after Automation is finished, the devs will take a very long holiday to wind down after a job well done! ;)

Well, they could be cylinders, rectangles, or even prisms. You could make them out of many different materials! :D

On-topic: I fully hope that the devs just relax and not worry too much about another game. However, if they feel inspired to make another game...

Re: After Automation

There are lots of Automation related things we'd love to do, given enough money/time/resources/enthusiasm. Besides that we have a new game idea every few weeks or so, so I'm sure one of those might eventually happen

Recode the game so we can export to a 3d printer and get lifesize car models?

I'm surprised people haven't tried to do that already, knowing some of the rich nutters out there ;).

Re: After Automation

Considering how expensive 3d printers are for making something of the right size and be able to print with the right materials... not really. Last I checked, even a small 3d printer for something OTHER than plastic is like $400k.

Re: After Automation

Then better check again, because a small 3dprinter for plastic costs only 600 euros.... You can print up to 60x60x40 or something like that.
When you go up to bigger printers, yes, the costs easily start adding up... especially when going over 1 meter x 1 meter x 1 meter.
But the metal ones arent that expensive either. up to 60x60x40 for metal or double fillaments (as materials for 3d printers are called) go for about 2000 euros.

The big industrial printers are able to print houses, and yes, those cost up to 400K.

Exactly the case I was not talking about (though I guess I wasn't entirely clear?). I was meaning a small 3d printer that prints using metal. Just a quick search told me one of those was $450k for a BASE MODEL.

Edit: Actually thinking for a split second... it'd be interesting to have 3d printers for making some of the components for our cars in the factories.
