Poor dudes over there... I hope you at least have some good deals for slightly older games like software pyramid or best buy :) those always go for 10€ here.

Yes, it should be about the game and what's in it, 20/30$ is a very fair price that I think strikes a good middle road, I just hope it can at this price reach the critical mass of buyers needed to kick into overdrive. :)

Re: How much is a fair price for Automation

I think it really depends on how big the game will be at release, how much content there will be that is. 10-30USD, all depending on how much content and how well done.

If it comes out how we planned, I thinkg $20 -$30 should be good, that's a third of the price of most games, but still a bit more than your average casual indie platformer

The pricing might make it more attractive as well to those on the fence. I can't want to order it! :D

Yes, but the price should really be more about what the game is like not who the developers are, and a lot of those indie games are little casual games that are not hugely deep.

We're looking at more the kind of things Paradox Interactive does, for example Cities in Motion.

We've pretty much decided anyhow, its going to to be $20 for a pre-order, $30 when done

I wasn't talking about the dodgy ones, I was talking about ones such as Minecraft / Terraria / SPAZ etc. Most of these are priced at the $20 mark.

I never meant to say that it wouldn't be worth more than $15-20, I meant that people may be less inclined to purchase it if it was too expensive. The people who are really keen will buy it even if it was $40-$50, but I'm talking about the people who aren't as passionate as some of those here ;)

$30 RRP is probably a good initial projected price point :)

Mixing this in with the pre-order bonus thread, maybe it can be offered at $30 pre-order, then if the pre-order reception is very good the price can be made closer to $40 or $50 for normal release? Then dropped if needs be.

$30 pre-order, $40 release sounds perfect to me. Although $20 and $30 sounds better

Now, where do I pre-order? :D

Re: How much is a fair price for Automation

Will you also make it as expensive in dollars as in euros? saw this a few times with game sales, eg 20 dollar means 20 euro for the game (not 20 dollar and 14 euro).
offcource this depends on what the current economy does :P but i would happily pay 20 or 30 euro for it.

Re: How much is a fair price for Automation

14 Euro I would say, for one thing the way we're going to do preorders its probably all going to go through USD at somepoint anyhow

Re: How much is a fair price for Automation

I voted $50+. I gladly paid $35 for the pre-order.

I think there is a difference between a fair price though, and a realistic price. I've been waiting for a game like this for many years... so there's a good chance I would have paid a lot of money for it after it was complete. The majority of people aren't like me though, so although I think $50+ is a fair price, I think the $30 - $40 range is what's realistic.

[EDIT] Opps. Thread resurrection, lol.
