From what I have seen, production cars typically produce between 50kg of lift and 20kg of downforce at the front and/or rear of the car. That isn't to say more or less than that is not a production car, but I would say it is a good range for most vehicles. If a street car is producing 100kg of downforce, then something has been modified, or it is extremely engineered for high speeds. The average "street car" for consumers produces lift only or extremely light downforce at best. Since the bug was revealed, I've been trying to understand this topic much more.

According to this page, really good modern production cars produce a Cd of about .38, while F1 cars produce around .75. Also of note, these would be found on supercars such as the Porsche 911 and Ferrari 430's of the world. The C6 Z06 is actually only .29.

Using 30 wings on a production car is not valid in life or in game.

I'm sorry. Did I say it was? If so, I apologize. If not, then why are you quoting me?

Come on, we've gone over this to completion in the BRC practice thread, complete with Killrob's final words on the matter. Go read that, and then let it go.

Re: Automation Airfield Lap Times

Oh ho, here comes a new challenger? :D

I'll save you some of the pointless trouble as the whole deal with the aero in the current version of the game is now common knowledge: As silly as putting 50+ wings (no joke) on the car was, in the interests of playing around with the simulation I found the approximate sweet spot (at least for the frame I'm using!) At the extreme pointy end, it becomes a matter of playing with the increments of the sliders and seeing what results, as the tuning literally becomes finer than can be achieved with one click of the slider (and at this point, as some would argue and I would agree, this is where playing a simulation has well and truly departed the reflection of what happens in real life, so it becomes an academic exercise... one that I'm willing to partake in nonetheless :P).

Anyway, since I saw the intentions to take a tilt at my time, I thought I had better provide my actual latest race time so I have sent the screenshot in. Expect to see the board change soonish!

I see I was thinking in opening a ring time competitionand limit the amounts of downforce in each car as long having a 1500$, 100Mhr engine

Re: Automation Airfield Lap Times

The downforce will be limited, but only when there's a fix for the bug. Until then, you can go wild. Just please remember when a fix does come out, this power board will be wiped clean to make way for some new, less downforce-reliant times. :)

Re: Automation Airfield Lap Times

I tried to make a car to destroy strop's record, 1800bhp, a LOT of downforce, it only managed a 1:07 or something like that

Re: Automation Airfield Lap Times

Does it have a whacking great turbo in it? Because that increases the cooling requirements so much the subsequent increase in drag will work against you... This said aggressive turbo is at a disadvantage because the track is tight and needs a very responsive engine with nice even profile... I can use a 2000 HP engine to go slightly faster around the ring but it'll lose heaps of time around the airfield.

That'll be the first time the order has changed in nearly 2 months. I say bring it!
