@BlastersPewPew: Unless the MTBF is higher in the model designer, I believe that they are below the limit of 20000km.

Well, here's my engines. I've switched back to imperial readings though, as that's what I normally design my cars with.

You can see a complete overview of my cars and engines over at my car company thread, found in my signature.

it looks like its because wild engine, and the semi-slicks aren't as forgiving either. Red your car is better, green mine is better.

That engine utterly destroys the tameness rating with a -28.2% modifier. Otherwise it compares quite favorably so I don't regret putting in that engine, I think it might work out well. I could have probably tweaked the gearbox a bit more.

If I had your engine and put that in the car the tameness would be 53.9 but your care would probably be faster overall at that point.

I wonder when the first leg results will be posted.

I do like how my car gets to about 72% of its top speed within a quarter mile.

Re: Bavarian Rallye Challenge: The Real Deal [CLOSED]

The real question is how much of a penalty is applied for having a skewed tameness/sporty ratio.
In my testing using my 560hp turbo engine with 4500rpm of power band and 6 gears it was never even challenged by a N/a motor as the ai seems to always manage to down shift to the correct gear.
For everything but a sub 100km/h track I feel like turbo is king. Is there a repeatable situation where the ai will try to rev the car from low revs instead of changing gears?

Re: Bavarian Rallye Challenge: The Real Deal [CLOSED]

The "AI" changes gears if the acceleration potential in another gear (higher or lower) is higher than in the current one and if the engine can run at that RPM (i.e. acceleration is always higher in lower gears but the engine must stay below the rev limit). So if geared correctly, it will never drive in the low RPM-range (except for starting from standstill) where there is no power.

Ok thanks a lot. That changes my view point entirely knowing the ai is "smart"... now very keen to see how things turn out.

It is over by 7km :P I cut out the little part that has the MTBF and pasted it into the car photo, the model designer says 20007km :) I also put the US/UK measurements in next to the metric ones so everyone has an idea what is what.

These forums don't allow a space in the username when you sign up to them. Presumably it was different when you signed up though

That is indeed the case, the rules for what a proper username is have been changed.

BRC Top Trump Cards

Believe it or not: The Top Trump Cards have been finished. A big big thanks to my helpers conan_murder, Kubboz, NormanVauxhall, pleb, and pyrlix. Without them it would have been impossible. A small warning: Don't take the comments too seriously! And if you need someone to shout at, please shout at conan. :P

In this folder you can view and download the cards:

The results of the rallye will come in from tomorrow on. Like last time: One stage per day. :)

Yeah! Shout at me everyone! If it's a slightly... mean comments on the BRC 1100. It's highly likely that it's ME! I'll take full responsibility if anyone if offended by one of the comments that "I MADE", but since those are the only one that bites, I'll state that down here beforehand.
