Would 1 wing and 3 lips break the game? I use one of my lips as a wing at the trunk of my car.

Re: Bavarian Rallye Challenge: The Real Deal [OPEN]

Sent in revised versions of the two cars. Funny enough, I had a better engine for Super 1000 that I built after submitting the first time... I did not change to that engine though, as I felt THAT actually would be cheating. I thought something was weird when I had done some testing with lower amounts of wings and then went for the same downforce and then suddenly lost a lot of time... but didn't ever realize it was a bug. I just wanted my car to be versatile with what I could do for tuning! :|

Lips are basically wings in the game, but less efficient. So you don't have an advantage by using 3 lips and 1 wing. I would accept that. 3 wings and 1 lip would be an advantage and not be accepted.

Kewl, thanks. I just really like the way it makes my car look, lol. I actually assumed that the lip didn't give my any performance bonus. Nice to know it helps some.

Guess I should add another wing to my 1000 car though... if it makes that much of a difference.

Re: Bavarian Rallye Challenge: The Real Deal [OPEN]

Good to hear its total weight.

Also, since I only used one wing and one lip I went in and added another of each and ended up losing 1.3 seconds off my best time for the first section, but gained 20kph top speed. So I think it will keep it.

By the way. Unless your the Stig or something my BRC 1100 car will kill you. Just flat out kill you. The tameness goes all the way to 11. I picture it going around every corner just under 200kph sideways like a drifting car.

Like any other car designed by an American, it cant turn well, but it will snap your neck with the acceleration.

Why are you using that strategy?

Oh, for some reason I was under the impression that in real life at least, lips and other floor based downforce generating devices were far more efficient than wings for the downforce they produce. Maybe thats just the case in F1 though since its probably where I heard it from

Because I dont know how to get the car to turn well. So I just went for outright grunt and power. It still gets much better times on the first part of the track then most other people who posted their times.

Thats just absurdly stupid....no wonder the times on the airfield/test track threads are retart fast.

Re: Bavarian Rallye Challenge: The Real Deal [OPEN]

Once the issue is fixed in the public build, then I think things will calm down again. I spent a long time getting my 1100 car tuned, but never intended to use an exploit to go faster. I think it was around 30 revisions working on the suspension, 10 on aero, and 20 on drivetrain. Another 10 were used tweaking the overall packages or testing different engines. It was very confusing though when I was losing a second or two when I had done chassis rebuilds and reducing the wing counts (and then returning to my first chassis each time, wondering what made it so much faster when they had the same downforce). Guess I know now.

Re: Bavarian Rallye Challenge: The Real Deal [OPEN]

This makes the 3rd time I accidentally deleted my car for the BRC 1100. I also learned how to make it turn, its Tameness is now a 23.4. Now it will only mostly kill you!

I'm going to submit it before I delete it again by accident.

I just thought of an idea, not sure if it was done for the past rallye, but could the event be livestreamed? It'd be pretty cool to see everyone's cars compete.

I did twitch me developing one of the cars for competition, which I then deleted by accident... I might upload it to youtube at some point this week.

Edit

I deleted the car by accident not the recording.

...how would that work in the slightest? Watch a stream of a little blue car driving through six very long stages, multiple times? Sounds cool...
