Research related questions

ok, i've heard that research will be a major thing, but how will it work?

will we have a dedicated team in R&D or will we just get experience from building the same engine block type for 4 engine generations?

both?

i'm very interested in how it will work out :roll:

I think, best is to have a team researching, but during manufacturing processes, you should be able to collect R&D points to invest in things like: Manufacturing speed: +1% or such things. So the more you manufacture, the more points and thus the more efficient or quicker you can produce.

main reason for my question is the mechanical injection, which now shows up only in 1968, first system were used before 1940s and then already went to be available for the masses in the 50s

To be honest, that doesnt show in your initial question...! :P

Though, some researchpoints to invest into productline efficiency, speed or quality sounds good to me.

Research will be based on the current quality system. It describes how much further you have progressed in each area of research. Basically everywhere you see a quality slider there will be one research branch for it. By investing money into research you can get "ahead", but research returns are connected to how far you are ahead already exponentially. So it won't be like in Detroit where you were using 2000s tech in the 1960s. :P

Example: You invest loads of money into Top End research and over the course of 5 years you manage to get ahead by 7 tech pool points. Now you stop your research in that area and over the course of the next 7 years you will lose your advantage. If you had kept the research going you may have been at ~9 points advantage instead and would be stuck there without putting even more money into it.

how many years can we actualy get ahead?

as i mentioned earlier, the mechanical injection has almost 20 years difference in-game compared to actual history

can't find any info on DCOE carbs though :(

MPFI implementation should be a a bit earlier then it is now

VVT/VVL is pretty much accurate

10 tech pool points ahead means 20 years ahead in general quality and can unlock parts up to ten years in the future. 15 tech pool points is the maximum.
The "appearance" of the parts has nothing to do with when they first appeared but when they were common.
