Nice to see a pushrod block :) it's light and compact, and its going to need every advantage in the corners because so far nothing is keeping up with that 40 valve monster.

Re: Classic Trans-AM / Touring Car challenge!

thank you for your humbled words, its not really built for rpm's as you can tell, but it is fairly reliable and lightweight, enough power for a 1-1.5 ton car.

Though muddman, it looks as if you could squeeze a bit more out of that. Your octane is only 90 out of 93

Re: Classic Trans-AM / Touring Car challenge!

Here are my entries.

First in the under 2000cc group, a modified version of my Saber 2000 engine, pushed to 184hp and made ultra responsive for the trials of a racing circuit.

Then for the 5000cc category, a modified Vulcan 304 the Cammed-AM, pushing 407hp while keeping it's weight as low as possible.

Thanks, I liked making that I-4, although Frankschtaldt's engine out powers mine I hope my lighter weight and better response is enough of an edge.

Re: Classic Trans-AM / Touring Car challenge!

I tried to make a competitor, but as it stands that 5001cc engine is ridiculous, I don't even know how that's possible aside from voodoo magic.

Not to be a poor sport, but... 75 man hours seems a bit.... tight, especially for a performance engine. Considering that's the amount of time it would take to build one by hand and not on a production line.

I was basing that on my gold from the in game trans am scenario, I had a 55 hour engine at $1500, I upped the man hours to 75 so overhead cam engines could be entered as well, the restriction I thought would have been low was the the cost...

I'm sticking with my Vulcan 304 entry, but I can't resist a challenge.

I give you the Illegal to this contest cooperKiller V8

I do believe that is down 1000 miles on the mtbf minimum! But that's wildly impressive still. I do believe mine has the highest fuel economy and MTBF in its class, unless I'm wrong.

Ahh blast! Caught by my own rules. you are right and I can't find a easy fix to it, well done the both of you. gt1cooper leads in power, and CnSpots1 in economy and reliability

Awww, I dropped my mtbf by 1000 and built an engine with 484 hp :( Well, I still win the power wars ;)
