2008 BMW 320i (Wife's Car)

Dream Garage Vehicles
Audi RS7
Audi R8
BMW M5
Porsche 918 Spyder

About: Perth born & bred to Kiwi parents. Cars were just a way from getting from A to B in my childhood as our entire family lugged it around WA in a 1992 Daihatsu Charade - a vehicle guaranteed to ensure that a child never gets interested in driving.

Got the bug when Gran Turismo 2 appeared under the christmas tree one memorable year when I was 15, and since then I've been an Audi tragic, for design rather than drive reasons - I love clean lines and subdued metallic colours.

Graduated medical school a few years back and have been able to indulge my love for Audi with an A5 sportback (totally sensible, has four doors dear) which is my zen area on my commute to the chaos of an inner city hospital Emergency Room. I enjoy my creature comforts and downtime, so the A5 is a good choice for me, though I'd really love to own an RS7 or M5 as the perfect combination of fun & comfort. Maybe in a few years time I'll have the salary and security to lash out, but Australia's luxury car taxes are a bastard.

How did you find us?
I'm always on the lookout for games that allow me to indulge my love of management, be they games like Airwaysim or Automation, so this was on my radar for a long time.

About: I've been crazy about cars since I was little. I'm generally a big fan of anything fast. I bought my first "proper" sports car after college (an NA miata) and have since gotten myself an S2000 that I enjoy immensely. I try to make it to the track as much as possible but its a rather expensive hobby.

How did you find us? Well, we are us, but how did u find us? Google, facebook, wikipedia etc? : Youtube I believe, I was watching car game videos and stumbled upon this fantastic game in development!

About:

I moved to Montreal for studies and wish to move to Australia later on and work there.

I see engineering as 100% numbers, art as 100% bullshit, so I chose to study business, which is my 50/50.

I'm very neat and obsessive about order, exampe: I can spend 20 minutes tying a tie to get rid of all the wrinkles and have the knot the right size, shape and straight. I have a passion for anything I can get my hands on and tinker, bikes, computers, cars. Naturally a game where you can do anything to a car, you want all around caught my attention! I love creating in general, and combining obsessiveness and love for creation can lead to interesting results, on Minecraft for example!

I used to have a Cagiva Planet 125, a beautiful thing, but I sold it in order to go study, I truly miss that tiny monster, nothing like small two strokes!

Oh and if, somehow you ever run out of ideas for this game, I can give you about enough ideas for you to go on developing for a lifetime! :D

Cars: I own nothing, I drive everything!

Post Sat Jan 11, 2014 10:30 pm

Re: Introductions

Hello you fine people!

My name is Simon and I am currently not occupied, which is why I find the time to introduce myself a little more than five months after becoming an Automationist (this could become a new word).

I am located in Germany, the home of cars, the center of engineering, the land of poets and.. Merkel *sadface*

However, I am obviously very much interested in seeing Automation becoming a legend among the tycoon games, as well as the Internet in all of it's glory, sports, books, cars in general.

Which leads me to my actual ride: None. As I am too poor to own a car at the moment, my only escape from this poor state, is to rent a car when I can. Economically smart, no, but at least I get to drive some interesting cars.
Last car was a Mercedes A-class, the new model of course.

If I was to imagine any car in my imaginable garage, it would be a Ferrari 550 Maranello, a Ferrari F196, a VW CC and or an Aston Martin DB5.

I found you guys through one of the biggest computer forums in Germany, where one of your members was advertising the game, which initially sparked my interest.

There is not much more to say about me I guess, I am of german/british descent, love to write, but had hardly any motivation for it lately, am married, my wife wants me to buy car, I told her that soon, I would build my own cars.... 8-)

Actually, a little anecdote from my childhood. I used to go around and knock on all the possible tyres of parked cars. Why? Nobody knows, but I knew the most common car brands by the age of 3 and possibly my first word was connected to a car.

Re: Introductions

So I guess, I've got to introduce myself, too...

Name: Sebastian

Occupation: IT Project Manager, Automotive Journalist

Location: Munich, Germany

Interests: Cars, Nordschleife "green hell", Racing, Racing Sims

Vehicles Currently Owned:
1998 Lotus Elise S1 with 111S Engine (VVC)
2004 smart fortwo (not driven for a year, though ;) )

Dream Garage Vehicles:
Lotus Exige Mk2
"Some Seven"
Renault Clio 3 RS
Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black

About: I was born in the famous "Ruhrgebiet" in Germany and moved to southern Germany soon. Later I moved to Karlsruhe, then to Hessia and for 2 years now I'm living in Munich. As for the most of you my life was all about cars, too. As a kid I knew every spec of every car around ;)

During the age of 12 to 18 years I started focussing on computers, programming etc and was racing racing sims online (Live for Speed, rFactor) in leagues. I started an IT career as software engineer and I am now working as scrum master and project manager.

With 19 I made my driving license and bought a smart roadster. due to my software-interest I started "debugging" the software of the car and later on began modifying the ECU and created my own custom mappings for that car. With an improved chassis and around 120hp that litte thing was quite nice to drive and I drove my first laps on the Nordschleife with it.

A few years later I bought a Renault Megane 3 RS with Cup chassis. With that I did about 200 laps in 2011 on the Nordschleife. At that time I was already writing about cars on my personal blog from time to time. At the end of 2011 I started writing on a cars-only blog, passion:driving, a blog focussed on driving experience, the joy and passion of driving and not about boot-space, comfort and such things ;)

The blog grew quite well, so I was able to get cars like Audi R8 V10 plus, Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Ed. 507 and many others I have previously dreamed of. So yes, that's kind of a dream job, like Ronin GT21 said, but it's "just" a hobby. A hobby that consumes a LOT of time. Meanwhile I am an official car journalist and plan on taking the whole thing a step further by reducing the time in my main job.. We'll see what the future brings ;)

How did you find us:
That was still before the release of the first version. I immediately thought "you've got to buy this!" and I did ;) To be honest: I cannot remember where I first heard about it ;)

Cars: Project car: Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 6 Tommi Makinen Edition

Re: Introductions

Name: John

Occupation: Mechanical Engineering Student/ ASE Master Automotive Technician

Location: New York

Interests: Motocross, working on cars, guitar, skiing, cycling.

Vehicles Currently Owned: 2001 Acura 2.3 CL, 2003 YZ125, 2006 RM250, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 6 Tommi Makinen Edition (USDM Mirage conversion - long project!)

Dream Garage Vehicles: Audi R18 LMP, Mclaren MP4/4, Porsche Carrera GT, Lancia 037 Stradale, Audi Quattro S1, Lancia Delta Integrale Evolutzione, Ford RS200, Alfa Romeo Giulietta... Too many dream vehicles!

Previous Vehicles of Interest: 2007 KX250F, 1994 Nissan Maxima (I miss this old car!)

How did you find us? Jalopnik (OPPO!)

About:
I am from New York, and have lived here my whole life. I owe my love of cars to my father - he owns a repair shop, has a classic car, and used to race motocross. I picked up most of his hobbies and see a scary amount of him in myself. I was working at his repair shop doing oil and tire changes by the time I was 14. Now I am an ASE master tech, but am going to school for mechanical engineering.

I plan on staying in the automotive industry - I did an internship at a tier 1 automotive supplier and loved it, but would love a job in powertrain development, or something with racing.

Unfortunately my program does not have any automotive classes, but I have been buying a few auto textbooks every semester to learn on my own. Right now I am doing the powertrain engineering for my schools SAE Clean Snowmobile team so I have been able to get involved in most engine subjects that I am interested in.

I have had an ongoing project for a few years - I am working on converting a USDM Mitsubishi Mirage into a Lancer Evolution 6. I have most major components and recently finished modifying the engine (2.3 L stroker, forged internals, 8.5:1 CR, ported head & more aggressive cam) for street-duty and some auto-x. I hope to finish it "one-day" :?

Anyway, I am REALLY enjoying the game. So far I have platinum on all the 4-cylinder scenarios, but I have found myself struggling on the V8s!

Location: UK

Interests: Games, Programming, Vehicles

Vehicles Currently Owned: Nissan Pulsar GTi-R, Nissan Skyline R34 GTT

Dream Garage Vehicles: Nissan Skyline R34 GTR V-Spec (Bayside Blue)

Previous Vehicles of Interest: 3x Nissan Pulsar GTi-R's, Nissan 200sx s14a, Nissan Skyline R32 GTS-4 (RB20DET, 2 door 4wd)

How did you find us? Jalopnik article

About:

I'm a programmer by trade, working on an Indie strategy game when I get time using unity, by day I work using PHP, MySQL, Javascript etc for a company in the Midlands UK.

I've been into cars since I turned 18 (Currently 28 now!) and learnt to drive, my first performance car was a 320bhp Pulsar GTi-R, and I've been hooked on them ever since, currently got one that I've had for 5 years and am doing up by myself into basically a road going rally cross spec, the whole build is on http://rnn14.co.uk

Once the pulsar is finished it should weigh in at under 1100kg, and will be pushing out between 420-450bhp without nitrous, then I've got a 50hp shot of nitrous on top to help out when needed. It'll still have its full 4wd system too, so 0-60mph will come in around 3.0-3.2 seconds.

My daily driver is an R34 GTT Skyline, but I'm in the process of saving up for an R34 GTR V-Spec in Bayside blue, if everything goes to plan then I'll be able to afford to get one imported around the middle of this year.

I'll do some threads in the My Rides section when I get time for the pulsar and the skyline :) Any questions etc feel free to PM me.
