Power to Weight ratio display

Any chance we could get power to weight ratios displayed somewhere. Either in the manager list view or the test results screen. Maybe a power to displacement ratio as well.

Re: Power to Weight ratio display

Hm, I don't know if this really is necessary. You get the values for power, weight and capacity. The rest can be done by using a calculator.

Re: Power to Weight ratio display

If we go for a detailed stats screen somewhere then that would be part of it, yes. That value will be used in calculations already anyway.

Re: Power to Weight ratio display

It would be intresting to have also the engine kilowatt/liter ratio.

Re: Power to Weight ratio display

Yeah, both of those go in the "Would be interesting to display, if we can find a good bit of UI space", if we have some kind of advanced stats tab they'll be there for sure :)

Re: Power to Weight ratio display

There's some space just to the right of the power display on the engine test screen. There's a cell just looking to get filled, could even put another cell right above it.

Either way, this would be nice to see if it's easy to do. I don't know much about programming, doesn't seem like much, but I'm sure there's some work involved.

Re: Power to Weight ratio display

It is indeed pretty easy to put in (all in all maybe an hour of work all combined), and that space is vacant, yes. Is this the "most wanted" stat though?

Re: Power to Weight ratio display

IMHO I can't think of other data that could be useful to have a under your eye at that moment. (hp/liter)
Engine power to weight ratio too... but the power to liter I think it's my favorite.

Re: Power to Weight ratio display

The cell is plenty big to show you both I think...

Specific Power: (Horsepower per pound) / (Horsepower per Liter)

and/or it would probably include an option to select what units your specific power is displayed in like all the other units (hp/L, hp/lbs, kw/L, kw/kg...)

I think I kind of like weight better personally. I like to keep my cars as powerful and light as possible and as long as you have the right materials you can lower the bore and increase the stroke to make an engine with more displacement, more power, and less weight. I think this will be real nice when the next car designer demo is ready with drag.

Hopefully specific power can also be shown for the whole car in the test screen somewhere as well.

Re: Power to Weight ratio display

It seems to me that it'd make sense to show specific power in the engine designer (where it's actually important/interesting) and power to weight in the car designer?

I like this idea too. Power to weight without the rest of the car, or the gearbox at least, don't sounds too useful for me at least.

Re: Power to Weight ratio display

Good, public has spoken.

Let's add specific power to engine test (power per displacement)
and power to weight ratio display for the car test.

If it's ok with the devs of course, I don't want to step on any toes here. lol
