Any Thoughts on Starting Earlier?

I'm just wondering, thinking, if maybe we can go back to 1930 to start the game at the earliest. I guess '46 was chosen to be after the war because the war won't be modeled in the game.

On another note, some of the technologies could possibly be available earlier - fuel injection was available on the '54 corvette, but not in game until '75 i believe. Will we have a R&D department that can develop techs sooner than they were actually available, or later if we don't invest enough?

This has been covered in many topics before. You'll be able to unlock stuff in full game with research. These locked years are used only in the demo and they are trying to describe the technology available in many cars and many manufacturers. They doesn't mean the first appearance of certain tech.

I love the sound of the Straight-6, or any 6-cylinder really.

One of the main reasons for not doing pre war era was body styling. Post the war, the modern "monocoque" style bodies became common. With lights integrated into fenders/front of the car. Rather than separate items. We were concerned the body designing system wouldn't really cope with horseless carriage style cars, as well as later duesenberg's and the like.

The war really stamped on the car industry across the world. It was basically a period of 6 years where no new cars were made or developed, just tanks, ships and planes. It seemed to us as the ultimate starting place for a car company tycoon game. So many new companies started after the war, and a big demand for new cars after years of people making do and mending what they had.
