Media and public response

Hi

These are ideas that, in my opinion, should be incorporated in the tycoon part of the game:

Before launching a carmodel into the public market, the car is often sent to a carshow where car-manufactures can survey the public response to a certain model (at a cost). As a tycoon-game there must be some algorithment concerning
the number of sales in the market, and I guess the chassie/bodydesign is a part of that. Ex. the actual carmodel is very popular at the carshow, but in the end the sales don't go well because you have set the pricetag too high.
Parts of these algorithms could be used to generate the following:

1. The game should have an option to send the car to a carshow to evaluate the cars look among the public. It will give the player a hint wether the design is a flaw or something to continue to work with, without giving too much away for the
ultimate success.

2. A second stage will be to let the famous car-magazines ("Car & Driving" and "Auto & Motorsport") have an exclusive preview/testdrive of your model and let them point out whats right and wrong with the car.
They are just giving away hints since some magazines are focused on sportiness and others in comfort and practicallities of a car.

These options could be presented in the game easily as text and images without sophisticated programming (I guess).

Just preordered the game, and I must say i'm highly impressed with the attention to detail put into the "engine design" part. So much that I have asked one of the teachers at my school who teach car-mechanics to evaluate it.
Maybe its usable for educational purposes?

I love that attention to detail, but as a tycoongame, there is a certain danger of becoming too detail oriented. There should be an option to buy decent engines and bodyworks in the game (not giving you maximum profit), for those
who are less interresting in car-design and more interresting in the economics. The answer to that is options, options, options.

Just can't wait to testdrive my newly designed car on a country road or a testtrack!

Re: Media and public response

Good ideas, which have been said in other posts before (couple of times in different topics)

Regarding your driving the car idea, this will only be implemented if the developers can do it GOOD. They don't go for half-way right on this, which is a good thing in my opinion.
Though, it will be something way after the game has been finished. I believe its in the FAQ http://automationgame.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1838
