How much is a fair price for Automation
Anything over 30 USD is a fair price for the game because of the quality and amount of time these developers have put into the game.

If you are planning on doing the game stuffed full with features from scratch and fixing any remaining problems with some patches, perhaps adding some new parts and features from time to time... Easily in the 30$ - 45$ range.
This is mainly how games were made back in the days, and most big titles today. This is considering you get a whole heap of features, all of them, in one single product. maybe one or two expansion-packs. Of course, most people are satisfied with this and it tends to generate quite the large and sometimes overwhelming mod-scene for better or for worse.
However, if you are willing to sell your game "Paradox-style", as their strategy these days are as well as Microsoft in their Flight-sim games.
You would aim for a price around 20$ for the basic-style game itself, and then selling a whole heap of DLC's and expansions for around 5$ to 10$ each.
Examples here would be making the basic game with a few gasoline-engines and such as the main release, then make the Diesel-feature as an optional "Diesel DLC", perhaps a DLC with W-type engines and wankels calling it "Extreme engines DLC" or something like that. Pickup-trucks, vans, SUV's, Family-minivans e.t.c in another one called "Bigger is better DLC", Electric engines, hydrogen engines, hybrids and whatnot in another calling it "Going green DLC" or whatever.
This offers each customer the choice of what to have and not to have, but tends to scare off people who like it simple and it may be more of a burden in the long run than a resource.
Magicka is a good example of the latter with a metric freakton of addons and DLC's with miniscule content to each one.
So, they all have their pro's and con's. I myself would be content whichever way you make it, but a Steam greenlight will give you nice openings for both as it has a handy menu for everything DLC-related to the particular game.
My personal super-secret desire is a far-future expansion that offers the player to start his/her game in the early 20's or even the mid 1910's, imagine a game spanning from 1920 to 2020 with T-Ford'ish creations in the beginning, struggling to get more than 15hp out of a ridiculously heavy cast-iron inline 4 drinking over 20L/100km to the future creations of 2020 where you will be fighting to get your miniscule inline 3-powered lightweight hatchback with twin turbos to consume less than 2L/100km to meet new legislations...
